East Texas, A Bear Hunt, the third of five movements from A Texas Symphony, is a musical illustration of an actual two day bear hunt that took place in 1906 in the Big Thicket. The hunting party consisted of 10 hunters led by Texas Legendary Hunters, Ben Lilly and Bud Hooks, and 8 hunting hounds. The music opens with a joyful fiddle theme representing nighttime around the campfire. As the night falls, the music quietens and percussion instruments (cabasa and woodblock) introduce crickets, woodpeckers and nighttime sounds. A rainstick and plucked strings bring the nighttime rain. With the morning, ascending strings herald the sunrise, with solo woodwinds bringing birdsong. The hunt theme is introduced by the brass. The bear theme is played by the bassoon, who is surrounded by bees, played by dissonant strings. As the hunt begins, the bear becomes alarmed, then the chase ensues. The high point of the chase arrives with an orchestra hit. The piece concludes with a triumphant return to the campsite. This fun piece is enjoyed by musicians and audiences for the fun melodies and unusual percussion sounds, length approx 12 minutes..

Medioevo is a Composition based on impressions from the dark ages. The composer wrote the piece to take you on a journey through this remarkable period of time.Part 1: The Promised Beginning Land Of Departurethe part opens with a decisive rhythm in the lower brass, woodwind and percussion section. The theme played by the woodwinds is written to give the listeners a middle eastern feeling. This represents the crusades. The higher brass section play a nice and static counter theme.Part 2: Enchanted DominionThis section a bit mysterious and magic, played by mallets and flutes. The theme from the Oboe represents the ghost of a warlock trapped on the dominion. As we pas trough the dominion we need the protection of the church represented by the Harpsichord (clavecimbel) and clarinets.Part 3: The rustling ForestsAfter leaving the Enchanted Dominion we gallop with our horse trough the Rustling Forests. These forest show fast winds and have a lyric theme played by the trumpets and saxesPart 4: The SquareOnce trough the Forests we get to the Village square where the market is on going. We have several sales men selling their goods. These are represented in the themes of the woodwinds. The confusion gets to much and we try to hide from the sales men. The trumpets represent this part in a piano 5/4 movement which bring a big contrast trough the noises from the market place. In the end we need to get through the market place so we find a way to keep the sales men away by playing a wonderful legato melody which the dwarf’s taught us.Part 5: Dwarf’sThese social and kind people have a little village outside of the town where joyful melodies sound from both children as adults and elderly dwarf’s. the themes are divided under the different solo players of the woodwind sections.Part 6: Run or HideAfter a nice time with the Dwarf’s we continue our path but soon we face a large army coming our way. What do we do Run or Hide? This part is full of different melodies and counter melodies to represent the indecisiveness of the Dark Ages.Part 7: NeverlandWe arrive in the land of the elves where the tenor sax and horns play an agitato atmosphere to represent our hart beat when we see these beautiful creatures. The themes from the flutes and euphoniums show the grace and beauty of the elves. While the harp creates an elf like atmosphere.Part 8 The castle Gardenswe arrive in the castle gardens. These gardens are the most beautiful in the whole land. It makes the orchestra say Ahh. While the percussion section gives it a magical feeling. After being amassed we soon find out that these gardens are made for the Authorities and paid by our tax money which gives us a double feeling. Should this money not be better spend on good music?Part 9 Black Powderafter we find out the castle lord wrongly used or tax money we go and find some black powder to blow him up. After being hunted down by the castle lord trying to get some black powder. We find ourselves in the glorious fight.Part 10: Rageour glorious fight with the castle lord continues into an enormous climax where we are stroke down and ends up with a one way ticket to the graveyard.Part 11: The GraveyardThe whole orchestra sings a spiritual song to guide us into the afterlives. An angle comes to collect our soul (represented by the piccolo flute). And slowly or name is forgotten.

The hymns are scored in four parts and could be used with virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments. They are presented in a set of three books and include full four-part instrumental scores plus separate parts in a variety of useful transpositions. Parts 1 and 2 (soprano and alto) are provided in B flat, E flat and C (8ve higher than concert); Part 3 (tenor) in B flat (9th above concert), E flat, F and C (bass clef) and Part 4 (bass) in B flat, E flat and C. There’s also an optional but useful simplified keyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The left hand plays only the bass part most of the time, with the right hand part kept as simple as possible. It could be used as the basis of an accompaniment and means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. The piano part too means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. These arrangements are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1438061). Never Let Her Slip Away is a song written by American musician Andrew Gold, who recorded it for his third album, 'All This and Heaven Too' (1978). The single reached number five on the UK Singles Chart and number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. Queen frontman Freddie Mercury contributed harmony vocals to the song, as an uncredited background singer. A 1992 cover version by British dance outfit Undercover was also an international hit. As revealed in his album liner notes, Gold wrote Never Let Her Slip Away about meeting actress and Saturday Night Live cast member Laraine Newman, who was his girlfriend when he composed the song; Dave Grohl of the rock band Foo Fighters called the song the most beautiful piece of music ever written, and maybe one of the most melodically sophisticated songs I've ever heard in my entire life. This joyful little song swings along with lovely melodic twists and turns and gorgeous harmonies, allowing your band to bring back the nostalgic, carefree sound of the Seventies.

Quickly, it becomes darker, as the clouds and thunder emerge (down came the rain and washed the spider out). After the period of darkness and melancholy, the song's key gets brighter and brighter, symbolizing the clouds slowly dissipating and sunlight emerging (out came the sun and dried up all the rain). The song ends joyously (and the itsy bitsy spider climbed out the spout again), celebrating the spider's survival of the perilous weather. It was referenced by Charles Dickens in his 1843 novella “A Christmas Carol†but with the lyric:“God bless you, Merry Gentleman!May nothing you dismay!â€The phrase “God rest you merry†historically meant “may God grant you peace and happinessâ€. “Rest you merry†was used both in Shakespeare’s “As You Like It†and “Romeo and Julietâ€. Over time, there has been confusion over this title due to changes in common language usage. The word ‘merry’ is an adverb of rest and not an adjective of Gentlemen.“Pat-A-Pan†is a traditional Burgundian French Christmas carol written by Bernard de La Monnoye and published in 1720. The text calls for the bringing of a drum and flute to play for newborn Jesus Christ in worship. The title is onomatopoeic for the sound of a drum, as is the additional lyric “tu-re-lu-re-lu†for the sound of a flute.“Yigdal†is a Jewish hymn and prayer that is a poetic adaptation of Maimonides’ 13 principles of faith. The text is attributed to 14th century poet Daniel ben Judah. The melody dates to the 17th century or earlier.
