Special instrumental effects and spoken dialogue contribute to a unique concert experience, excellent for a concert opener or finale. We hear touch tones, ringing phones, a 911 call, and emergency sirens as the phone call dances along the wires before plunging under the highway to finally emerge at a location of the ensemble's choosing. At about 2:15 in length, the piece offers some rhythmic and technical challenges for mallets and upper woodwinds, with an active part for low brass and woodwinds that provides a nice change of pace for those players. Bassoon, horn, and oboe parts are doubled in other instruments and may be omitted. Worksheet for reinforcing rhythms included.

This arrangement of Never Enough is for concert band with an optional vocal soloist.The work starts out with the simple piano arpeggios that really hooked my ear on the original, before leading into an intimate blend of woodwind timbres and flowing percussive melodies for the first verse. Low Brass lead the work into the first chorus, where a Horn solo carries the emotion to the first full ensemble hit that pushes through until the end of the work where sudden silence and soft, warm extended chord punctuates the piece.This piece was written with advanced high school and higher level musicians in mind. Though the pieces isn't incredibly difficult overall, the range asked of some of the performers and the raw emotion that this work represents demands a level of training. Each piece has five different parts which are split into four ability levels as follows: A – Range of about 5 notes, easy rhythms. B – Range of about 1 octave, basic rhythms. C – Range of about a 12th, some more difficult rhythms. D – Range of about 2 octaves, some rhythmic complexity. This enables the teacher to select parts which are suitable for the standard of individual players in the group. As a general rule, the pieces have been composed as follows: Part 1 – melody / countermelody (alternates with Part 2) Part 2 – melody / countermelody (alternates with Part 1) Part 3 – accompaniment (synchronises with Part 4) Part 4 –accompaniment (synchronises with Part 3) Part 5 – bass line (independent) Each part also comes in a wide array of transpositions, clefs and pitches. Hence, almost any combination of instruments can play together in an ensemble of mixed abilities,including: Flutes, clarinets, saxophones, mixed woodwind, trumpets, mixed brass (including brass band), violins, strings, keyboards/pianos, tuned percussion. An ensemble using any combination of instruments (as is often found within schools) will work effectively as well. You could also have a drummer play an authentic 'one-drop' rhythm with the kick and side-stick both on 2 and 4. Written in the style of nocturne, it is one of the most famous songs in Debussy's work. And also it is often featured as a repertoire among classical pianos as a whole.In this arrangement, while respecting the original song, bold “reharmonization†(change of chord) is applied. And further, an opening section as fade-in effect and an ending section extending the aftertaste time are added. All of them are used for creating new attractive of this song. And, I am also inspired by the title “A sentimental promenade which had been named at the time of publication in 1900-1901. There are many weak sounds throughout this song, but each phrase requires a rich expression centered on romanticism. At the same time, it is also important for the phrase to be passed down smoothly, and especially in the middle part, a flowing propulsion is required. I hope that those elements will be organically linked to the harmony taste, which is the key to this arrangement. Commissioned by conductor Keiko Kobayashi, and the Sony Concert Band.
