Published by WLM - Music (A0.1019629). Léo Delibes was a French composer, best known for his ballets and operas. His works include the ballets Coppélia , Sylvia (1876) and the opera Lakmé . His later ballets Coppélia and Sylvia were key works in the development of modern ballet. In the opinion of several critics, the score of Sylvia surpasses that of most others of his works. Tchaikovsky was greatly impressed by Sylvia. This arrangement is of the fanfare, Les chasseresses from Act 1 of Sylvia. This is a Grade 4 piece. Gold and Silver was commissioned by Principessa Pauline von Metternich for a ball in the Vienna Sophiensäle in 1902 and was performed there for the first time as oprning piece. When arranging the overture of Rossini's opera Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) the choice of the original source is an important question, as there exist more versions in different scorings, with or without piccolo flute, with or without trombones. In this case the arranger was to be chosen the scientific original text edition published by the Rossini foundation. The arrangement is transposed from the original key E to E flat. The ad libitum parts of Euphonium and Tuba are only recommended to be used, if there is a lack of low winds and double bass players in the orchestra performing. This arrangement was first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6th January 2010 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. It was written for the opening of the Berlin concert hall Königsbau on 19 October 1889. The first performance in Vienna took place on 11 November 1889 by his competitor Carl Michael Ziehrer, who made his own instrumentation along a piano edition. Strauss disliked that very much. Edition Schwalbe #1081280. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1505900). La Danza is a song with lyrics by Carlo Pepoli, a poet and democratic politician of the Italian Risorgimento. Gioacchino Rossini composed the music 1835 originally for solo voice and piano. It is part of his song cycle Les soirées musicales with twelve pieces by various poets. This version was orchestrated and arranged in the key of A minor as prefered by prominent tenors like Luciano Pavarotti. It was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2017 at the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. The solo part was sung by Thai born tenor Nutthaporn Thammathi. A French Noël is a setting of the tune accompanying the text Il est né, le divin Enfant, published in Airs des noêl lorrain (1862) and there called Ancien air de chasse (Old hunting air) due to its similarity to an old Normandy hunting tune.Following a short introductory fanfare, the A section of the tune is presented by clarinets and saxophones, handing off to brass and upper woodwinds on the B section. A short transition from the repeat of the A section modulates from the opening key of Bb major to Eb major, with brass then taking up the tune.
