The work was composed and first performed in 1835 by German composer and soloist, Friederich Belcke as a solo to be accompanied by a military band and dedicated to His Royal Highness, the Prince Christian Friederich of Denmark.This work has been rediscovered and beautifully edited for solo (Bass) Trombone and Wind Ensemble by Danish solo Trombonist and pedagog, Niels Ole-Bo Johansen.The music reminisces about the sounds of Switzerland....the awesome snow-covered mountains of the Alps, lush green forests, deep blue skies, calm lakes, and rushing river waters. It was a relaunch of an operetta two years before, which had no success. Also this operetta did not reach a performance in the capital Vienna, but its overture became worldwide known. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2015 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria, repeated on 6 January 2019 at the same event and broadcasted live by Austrian television.
