You can play it with any virtually any combination of instruments: symphonic band,clarinet choir, brass ensemble, brass band, solos, duets and trios - almost anything!This arrangement is in five independent parts each transposed into a variety of keys. For the most satisfying sound you’ll need to get a good balance between each part possibly with an emphasis on the melodic line. If you have a non-standard ensemble, you can pick 'n' mix as required. The piano reduction can fill missing parts or can be used as the basis for an accompaniment. This arrangement consists of a two-page score with five instrumental staves (including timpani) and three percussion staves. The following parts are printed on separate pages. Originally an art song for voice and piano, the piece was later expanded and reworked into a tone poem for violin and large orchestra, becoming one of Saint-Saëns' most famous works.Representation of Death: Danse Macabre was inspired by the French legend that Death plays the fiddle at midnight on Halloween, causing the skeletons in the cemetery to crawl out of their graves for a dance party. The theme of death as the great social equalizer, where no one can escape the dance with death, is depicted in the music and has inspired various paintings and art pieces.Composition and Reception: The piece is in the key of G minor and scored for an obbligato violin and an orchestra of various instruments.  When it was first performed in 1875, Danse Macabre received mixed reviews, with some critics expressing anxiety due to its dissonance, use of a xylophone, and hypnotic repetitions. This original composition was originally written in 2011 for a small mixed ensemble. It has now been expanded to the full Orchestral arrangement with optional Concert Band instrumentation. The composition has a positive feel reflecting my early childhood and a very happy home.There are optional parts for piano (not on the score) and a Violin 3 part which is a sub for the Viola part. A Harp part could also be played on a keyboard…The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3. Grade = 3 to 4 Duration = 2:55 mins.
