The Coventry Carol originates from a medieval mystery play entitled The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors. The play depicts the Christmas story, from the Annunciation (where the Angel Gabriel appears to Mary), to the Massacre of the Innocents (where King Herod of Judea orders the death of all male infants near Bethlehem under the age of two). It is this tale that the Coventry Carol depicts, taking the form of a lullaby sung by the mothers of the murdered children. As is appropriate, the music is in a minor key – this arrangement uses G minor and D minor as a homage to well-known harmonisations by Thomas Sharp and Henry Walford Davies. It is unknown when the words were first set to music, but a proposed date is 1591, or earlier! Other interesting musical features include the use of a ‘Picardy third’, and ‘false relations’, contributing to the haunting quality of this enduring piece, both in the heart of the English Midlands, and further afield. This arrangement is suitable for all bands of beginner-intermediate ability or higher. There is plenty of interest for both experienced players, and for newcomers. The instrumentation is designed to facilitate both a full sound, but also for flexibility, which is often desired by school, youth, and amateur wind bands / concert bands / wind orchestras.

As you can see, I started the melody from the first beat of the bar instead of the third. In this way all the phrases became thetic instead of anacrusic, gaining a greater simplification of reading.The melody of the Deutschlandlied (German national anthem) was originally composed by Joseph Haydn as the Austrian imperial anthem Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser and was first performed in 1797. (The lyrics of the Deutschlandlied were written by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1841 on Heligoland.) In 1922 it became the national anthem of Germany. Jerry Goldsmith scored First Contact, his third Star Trek feature. Instead of composing a menacing theme to underscore the Borg, Goldsmith wrote a pastoral theme linked to humanity's hopeful first contact. The theme uses a four-note motif used in Goldsmith's Star Trek V: The Final Frontier score, which is used in First Contact as a friendship theme and general thematic link. Star Trek: First Contact was released on November 22, 1996, and was the highest-grossing film on its opening weekend. Critical reception was mostly positive. Instead of scoring the film in the post-production stage, they decided to work on the themes together before shooting had started, this was so that the music helped inspire the film instead of the film inspiring the music. Leone even played the music on set and coordinated camera movements to match the music. The main theme, resembling the howling of a coyote, is a two-pitch melody that is a frequent motif, and is used for the three main characters. The final version features additional lyrics by McCartney. Lennon's voice was extracted from the demo using the machine-learning-assisted audio restoration technology commissioned by Peter Jackson for his 2021 documentary The Beatles: Get Back. The song has been released on 2 November 2023 on a double A-side single, paired with a new stereo remix of the band's first single, Love Me Do (1962). Both songs were included on the expanded re-issues of the 1973 compilations 1962–1966 and 1967–1970, released on 10 November 2023. It topped the charts in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria, and reached the top ten in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.Subscribe to my YouTube Channel to stay updated on new releases.

This is a piece of music I composed for my high school alma mater. As of this upload however, there are no performances of this piece that have taken place. What sets this apart is the use of a sort of 'cantus firmus' melody in the third section with a familiar chord progression, as well as a woodwind fade out instead of a downbeat finish. Included in this purchase is a pdf of the full score as well as the parts for your band. An updated conductor's score will include a change in the staff sizes to fit the full page rather than to include two systems on one page.
