Ijexá is available in full version and with its individual parts.The Ijexá rhythm is a musical form originating in Afro-Brazilian culture, specifically within the traditions of the Jeje people from the former Kingdom of Dahomey (now Benin). Also known as Jexá, Jeje, or Ijeji, Ijexá is often associated with Candomblé, an Afro-Brazilian religion.The history of the Ijexá rhythm dates back to the period of slavery in Brazil when Africans of Jeje ethnicity were brought to the country as slaves. They brought with them their culture, religious traditions, and, of course, their musical expressions. Ijexá is one of the musical manifestations of these people, which developed primarily in the Northeast and Southeast regions of Brazil.The Ijexá rhythm is characterized by a steady beat and a specific rhythmic pattern. Published by KyleMac Music (A0.1208594). THE MUNSTERS†was an American sitcom airing on CBS from 1964 to 1966. It depicted the home life of a family of benign monsters. The series was a satire of American suburban life, the wholesome television family fare of the era and traditional monster movies. The music, by Jack Marshall, was described by writer Jon Burlingame as a Bernard-Herrmannmeets-Duane-Eddy sound. This arrangement has fun bass lines, so they will enjoy this and need to work on it sounding creepy. Though not marked throughout, the bass line should be separated and emulate a picked electric bass articulation throughout. The rest of the winds is more suitable for 1st & 2nd-year players. Ex. The 2nd clarinets do not cross the break. The percussion is written for a drum set but can be separated as a traditional part for concert band. As usual, I have included plenty of percussion parts to go around. The tom part can be ad-libbed by a drumkit player if you go with that option. The part itself is optional but does help if splitting the drum part. There are three different mallet parts with the xylophone and marimba carrying the load. Bells can be optional. There are lots of sound effects in the accessories part. Ratchet, Cowbell, Vibra-slap, Tambourine, Whistle, Siren whistle. These can be easily substituted with what you have on hand. Considered a sea chanty, the song was passed on orally by singers on clipper ships. The variations in lyrics that have been collected demonstrate how various singers over the decades have altered the song (consciously or unconsciously). ♫ This arrangement is based on lyrics that were collected prior to 1860 and published in Sea Songs and Shanties by W. B. Whall (1910). There are evidently 2 rivers mentioned in this song, the Shenandoah and the Missouri. The song tells a love story between an impetuous trader and a Shenandoah Valley Native American princess. As the trader heads for the Missouri River, he looks back longingly to the home of the princess. ♫ I have used the Dorian Mode to suggest Native American elements in the story line.
