Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043121 By Barry Manilow. By Bruce Johnston. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Pop. Score and parts. 57 pages. Kevin Riley #647831. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1043121). I Write the Songs is a popular song written by Bruce Johnston in 1975 and released on his album Going Public in 1977. Barry Manilow's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976 after spending two weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December 1975. It won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for Record of the Year in 1977. Billboard ranked it as the No. 13 song of 1976. The original version was recorded by Captain & Tennille, who worked with Johnston in the early 1970s with the Beach Boys. It appears on their 1975 album Love Will Keep Us Together. The first release of I Write the Songs as a single was by teen idol David Cassidy from his 1975 solo album The Higher They Climb, which was also produced by Johnston. Cassidy's version reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in August of that year. Johnston has stated that, for him, the I in the song is God, and that songs come from the spirit of creativity in everyone. He has said that the song is not about his Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson. Manilow was initially reluctant to record the song, stating in his autobiography Sweet Life: The problem with the song was that if you didn't listen carefully to the lyric, you would think that the singer was singing about himself. It could be misinterpreted as a monumental ego trip.[3] After persuasion by Clive Davis, then president of Arista Records, Manilow recorded the song, and his version of I Write the Songs was the first single taken from the album Tryin' to Get the Feeling. It first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 15, 1975, reaching the top of the chart nine weeks later, on January 17, 1976. Cash Box said of Manilow's version Good work Barry describing the song as melodic, ballad-like beginning grows into an operatic crescendo, all done in clear production that all age groups will appreciate.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.755129 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 157 pages. Sy Brandon #3397035. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755129). Horseshoe Curve was composed for the Altoona Area High School Orchestra, Kelly Detwiller, director. This composition is in three movements. The first movement, Man Versus Nature, is moderate and intense, paying tribute to the designers and laborers for the Horseshoe Curve project. It uses parts of three railroad songs, Drill, Ye Tarriers by Thomas Casey, I’ve Been Working on the Railroad, and Dinah. The introduction uses phrases from I’ve Been Working on the Railroad that are disguised by ending on a different note than the traditional song. The main body of the movement uses phrases of Drill, Ye Tarriers that are interrupted by phrases of the other two songs as well as original material by the composer. It developes in intensity as the movement progresses, but ends softly, suggesting the ongoing labor of the project. The second movement, Doorway to the West is a celebration of the completion of the project. It uses She’ll Be Coming ’Round the Mountain in fragments, in canon, and as a basis for a hoe down and a waltz variation. The celebration becomes wild at the end as all ideas come together at once. The third movement, Growth and Opportunity is slow and expansive in the beginning with a quicker section at the end. It depicts the growth of Altoona as a result of Horseshoe Curve. The initial idea that appears in the celli is expanded and developed, therefore evolving into a constant stream of new, but related, ideas. The score prints on legal size paper and the parts on letter.

Broadway,Children,Christmas,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Standards. 88 pages. Www.studio-orchestrations.com #1084580. Published by www.studio-orchestrations.com (A0.1509331). For vocal soloist, (Optional SATB chorus) and Orchestra in G MajorBrothers Richard Sherman and Robert Sherman were two of the finest song writers of all time, creating iconic family friendly songs and scores for many Disney films including Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), and Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) and the animated films The Sword in the Stone (1963), The Jungle Book (1967), Charlotte's Web (1973), The Aristocats (1970), and of course the theme park songs There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow and It's A Small World (After All). The score for Mary Poppins is especially perfect with so many immortal songs like Chim chimeney, Spoonful of sugar, Fly a kite, Supercali ........ and of course the simple but beautiful Feed the birds. It has such finely balanced musicality as a song and tugs the heart strings with its gentle lilting narrative of the unassuming bird lady on the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral. This arrangement tries to capture the magic of the original song, using some occasional harmonic ideas from the stage musical version as well. Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284109 By Wings. By Linda McCartney and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop. Score and Parts. 60 pages. Kevin Riley #875342. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1284109). Live and Let Die is the theme song of the 1973 James Bond film of the same name, performed by the British–American rock band Wings. Written by English musician Paul McCartney and his wife Linda McCartney, it reunited McCartney with former Beatlesproducer George Martin, who produced the song and arranged the orchestra. McCartney was contacted to write the song by the film's producers Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli before the screenplay was finished. Wings recorded Live and Let Die during the sessions for Red Rose Speedway in October 1972 at AIR Studios. It was also the first rock song to open a Bond film. Another version by B. J. Arnau also appears in the film.Upon release, Live and Let Die was the most successful Bond theme up to that point, reaching No. 1 on two of the three major US charts (though it only reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100) and No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart. The song also received positive reviews from music critics and continues to be praised as one of McCartney's best songs. It became the first Bond theme song to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, but ultimately lost the award to Barbra Streisand's The Way We Were. It won the Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) at the 16th Annual Grammy Awardsin 1974.Wings performed Live and Let Die live during their concert tours and McCartney continues to play it on his solo tours, often using pyrotechnics during the instrumental breaks. It has been covered by several bands, including Guns N' Roses, whose version appears on their 1991 album Use Your Illusion I. One of the more popular covers of the song, their version was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performanceat the 35th Annual Grammy Awards in 1993. In 2012, McCartney was awarded the Million-Air Award from Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), for more than 4 million performances of the song in the US.
