Johann Sebastian Bach wrote his Harpsichord Concerto no. 2 in E, BWV 1053 in 1738, and it was published in 1854 in Leipzig by C.F. Peters. This concerto is thought to be based on a concerto for a wind instrument, probably oboe or oboe d'amore, and from stylistic considerations, it may have dated from Bach's time in Leipzig. It exists, like BWV 1052, in a later transcription in his cantatas Gott soll allein mein Herze haben, BWV 169, and Ich geh und Suche mit Verlangen, BWV 49, from which further inferences can be made about the original concerto. Bach changed his method of arrangement with this work, significantly altering the ripieno parts from the original concerto for the first time, limiting much more to the tutti sections. The lower string parts were much reduced in scope, allowing the harpsichord bass to be more prominent, and the upper strings were likewise modified to allow the harpsichord to be at the forefront of the texture. A standard rendition of the piece lasts 19 minutes. The work calls for two violins, a viola, and a continuo section, besides the solo harpsichord.

Joachim Leander's Praise to the LORD, the Almighty, as translated by Catherine Winkworth, has consistently been one of the most published hymns in the English language since the mid-20th Century. Its anonymously composed tune, LOBE DEN HERREN, almost exclusively paired with this text since the 17th Century, is also much loved. Even J.S. Bach found it suitable to feature in his 137th cantata. The title of this arrangement, Ponder Anew, as taken from the commonly used third stanza of the hymn, Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, invites one to consider afresh the attributes and works of Almighty God as one listens to this completely new setting of the tune. This arrangement for orchestra features three variations of the complete hymn tune utilizing metrical and harmonic changes to maintain focus on the tune and its text. These are bracketed via repetitions of the first five tune pitches in harmonic planing over a crescendoed pedal tone producing steadily increasing tension with unexpected resolutions of the beginning and concluding phrases. The music in not particularly difficult and should be readily playable by high school or higher level musicians. Yet, both musicians and audience will find the work interesting and enjoyable with music that reflects the majesty and mystery of its subject. O repertório utilizado contém músicas: Barroca; Clássica; Romântica; Moderna; Contemporânea; Brasileira. Os instrumentos que fazem parte do conjunto formado são: Piano; Teclado; Bandolim; Flauta-Doce; Cavaquinho; Bateria; Baixo elétrico; Guitarra; Violão; Viola Caipira; Percussão. Os arranjos são organizados em três nÃveis: *Primeiro NÃvel consiste em fazer acompanhamento simples utilizando notas musicais de ritmo simples de acordo com o instrumento a ser aprendido; *Segundo NÃvel consiste em fazer acompanhamento e partes do solo da música, o ritmo já é mais elaborado; *Terceiro NÃvel consiste em fazer solo da música, com um ritmo elaborado. As aulas para o primeiro nÃvel e segundo são em grupo de até cinco pessoas, a do terceiro nÃvel são individuais tendo a duração de uma hora por semana. Os três nÃveis fazem ensaios semanais juntos, formando conjuntos, a duração do ensaio é de uma hora. O repertório tem a função de introduzir o som do piano em conjunto, levar o conhecimento de um repertório pianÃstico ao conhecimento do público, dar uma noção de música de todos os tempos e valorizar músicas brasileiras, composta por autores brasileiros podendo ser erudita ou popular.
