A lovely arrangement for Orchestra. Key of Ab to Bb in the last verse. This tune was composed by Philip Paul Bliss (1838-76); an American writer of hymns and a Gospel singer. In the 2nd verse, the melody is taken up by the Trombones and Cellos in a very easy comfortable range. The Descant part is played in the 3rd Verse at the change of key; A flourish of Woodwind, Strings, Trumpets, and Horns finishes with a rousing climax in the final chords. There is an optional Piano part (Nor shown on the score). Home on the Range is arranged here for full symphony orchestra, with and option to perform it as an audience sing-along. There is a short intro, 4 verses and choruses, and a short coda. Each verse and chorus is slightly different, like a series of variations.This arrangement was originally created for the Kansas City Symphony's Symphony in the Flint Hills event in 2022, an annual outdoor concert which traditionally ends with a crowd singing along to this, the state song of Kansas. The key is a friendly E flat, and the text is provided on the second page of the score. There are parts for:the sing-along vocal part 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in B flat, 2 bassoons optional piccolo, English horn, bass clarinet, contrabassoon 4 horns in F, 3 trumpets in C, 2 trombones, bass trombone, tuba Timpani, 2 percussionists (glockenspiel, triangle, suspended cymbal), harp violin I, violin II, viola, cello, double bassI mean, it's a good tune! Score is 11 x 17 and parts are 9 x 12 size. Adobe Acrobat will easily shrink to fit letter size paper.

The Euphonium part is optional but would enhance the sound! There are combined and separated percussion parts for the Side/Snare Drum and Bass Drum. Merry Christmas, Darling is a Christmas song by the Carpenters (music by Richard Carpenter, lyrics by Frank Pooler), and originally recorded in 1970. It received a number of remixes, most notably in 1978 in a newly recorded vocal version by Karen Carpenter, which was done at her request. Richard Carpenter himself called the original recording one of his sister's very best. Hearing this song today with knowing ears and the knowledge of Karen Carepenter's mental health problems it makes a beautiful, sentimental song all the more bitter sweet and precious. It is a perfect little gem.In this orchestration - in the original Karen Carpenter key - there is never any heavy brass apart from 4 horns used very sparingly, and the optional original alto saxophone solo is also cued (as an alternative) for a Trumpet or Flugel horn if a sax is not available.
