This arrangement is for Late Intermediate Level Piano/Keyboard Duet. The written range is kept mostly within the staff and the appropriate performance range of pitches on the keyboard is achieved by octave displacement, i.e. the Primo part is performed an octave higher than written and the Secondo an octave lower. As the performance range extends beyond that of a 61-note keyboard, an acoustic piano or 88-note keyboard is required if both players are to perform on the same instrument. Another performance option is to use two 61-note keyboards and use the transpose function to displace the parts by an octave (up for Primo, down for Secondo). It is based on few fragments, motives that are lit in different light each time. The piece starts slow, but increases its intensity and speed as it progresses, utilizing the same motives. While composing the piece, I heard about a young man that threw himself to the river. I tried to imagine that went in his mind and what brought to this dead-end. And again the idea of a built intensity, obsessive and uncompromising came to my mind. At the very end of the piece, there is a sudden drop of intensity followed by a music box passage, as if describing what is going on in the person's mind right after the jump, right after reaching the edge of his life's spiral. Simple Salsa was composed for my grandchildren Franklin and Faye and is meant to be fun for new pianists They began piano lessons nine months ago and have made great technical progress and love to perform. The lower part, Piano II, is easier and repeats a basic bass line and simple three note chords. Piano 1 is slightly more difficult but more melodic. The slower section on page two is more melodic and relaxed. The performer can double some of the melody pitches one octave above for more drama and volume. The optional egg shaker part (or any similar shakers) is just a basic Latin rhythm part and is not notated with normal rhythm notation. but just a text suggestion. The music can be played Piano Four Hands or with two pianos. Feel free to add or subtract to the notation and rhythms depending on the level of the young pianists. If other y kids own Latin percussion instruments...they are welcome to join in! Hope you enjoy performing this lively music.

I would consider them both early intermediate, easily playing at Elementary IV NFMC class. This piece was quite the challenge at first. There are some tricky sections with unison runs. Playing cleanly is important here. Pedal should not be used very much except were notated. A definite crowd pleaser. (If you listen to the video, those are my students performing at an Honors Recital—very proud of them!) Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

(In Spanish you have different declinations for masculine and femenine adjectives). The masculine version is entrador. - Second, entradora can be understood in this context as a substantivized adjective, i.e. a word that is actually an adjective, but is used as if it were a noun, like if I say Now I will play 'Entradora'. (for a more scientific explanation check yor favorite English grammar book). - Third, entradora is a wink to Argentine composer Julián Plaza, who used adjectives as one-word title of several of his milongas and tangos, for instance Nocturna, DanzarÃn, Melancólico, Melancólica, Sensiblero, Nostálgico, Disonante, Dominguera, Expresivo, Futura, Instrumental, Juguetón, Paseandera, Payadora, Solemne, Temperamental - and possibly others that I am not aware of. - And fourth, the meaning of the word entradora in the coloquial Spanish of Argentina is this one: if applied to a person, is someone that easily makes friends, that wins the trust of the people very easily, who is very charming. I applied to an object (or to a melody) it means that it is easy to grasp, that you remember it immediately (as an earworm), that is accessible and uncomplicated. - Oh, there is a fifth point: are you native (or good) English speaker? After all this explanation do you come to an understandable translation of this word, Entradora?
