Mills, Fred Godfrey and Bennett Scott in 1916. It was popular during the First World War and tells a story of three fictional soldiers on the Western Front suffering from homesickness and their longing to return to Blighty - a slang term for Britain.Fred Godfrey wrote the song with Bennett Scott and A.J. Mills after passing a music hall in Oxford where a show called Blighty was showing. He recounts: One of us suddenly said What an idea for a song! Four hours later it was all finished, and the whole country was singing it soon afterwards. I got - not very much. Monteverdi - The Fourth Book of Madrigals 1603In this book, Monteverdi continues to develop the techniques and writing practices that would eventually form the first opera and his Stile Nuovo. The polyphony becomes more complex and more tonal and the interdependence of the parts more striking. He is experimenting with more dissonance but also moves towards more tonal writing. Although a far cry from the I IV V and minor of the modern pop song, he is nonetheless helping to push forward a more diatonic type of harmony with a more dramatic tonal and harmonic structure that goes much more towards true word painting than his previous books. I've played many weddings and recorded many demos seeking wedding jobs, and it boggles my mind that this is usually the worst arrangement in the folder. Weddings are about the Bride, she's the star. I recommend using the extended ending with Chimes on the last chord. *Repeats and cuts were added to these arrangements, to time the procession of the Maids/Ushers and the Bride's procession.

I recommend using the extended ending with Chimes on the last chord. *Repeats and cuts were added to these arrangements, to time the procession of the Maids/Ushers and the Bride's procession.

This a British style brass band arrangement of Brahms' Trio, Opus 8 (for piano, violin, viola) that uses the major themes from Movement 1. It runs around 5 1/2 minutes long, has deep chords, running triplets, and some incredible themes. Brahms was a master at filling and changing chords by using techniques such as running triplets. Other parts are filled with full, deep chords made by the brass band that is much deeper than the original piano accompaniment and gives a unique sound that only a brass band can provide.Instead of using the full Movement 1 as Brahms wrote it, just the melodies were used and woven throughout the piece.It is a difficult piece with an extensive Marimba part as the primary percussion part. Published by Philip Orem (A0.872686). Labour and Love (1913) by Percy E. Fletcher was originally scored for a British brass band. This included an Eb soprano cornet, 4 Bb cornet parts (with a fluegel horn double in one part), 4 Eb tenor horn parts, 2 Bb baritone parts, euphonium, 2 tenor trombone parts, bass trombone, an Eb bass part and a Bb bass part. All the parts excepting the trombones were written in treble clef. This arrangement, while attempting to preserve the original style and flavor, has been adapted for the contemporary American brass ensemble.
