Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.931293). Ari Pulkkinen (born 15 January 1982) is a Finnish video game composer, musician and sound designer. His Angry Birds theme is perhaps his most famous work.Pulkkinen was born in Helsinki. At the age of 6 he started studying piano and composed his first song at the age of 12. He was interested in the computer music demoscene and started making music with tracker software under the name ArtZ. He won many music competitions and made his first big public album to accompany a freeware game named Starfight VI: Gatekeepers in 1999. Ari has never studied music composition academically.In 2003 he was hired as in-house audio director to game development company Frozenbyte Inc. Where he made the original soundtracks and sound design for video games Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds: Survivor and Trine. In his spare time Ari earned diplomas in Professional Audio Design and Producing and Further Education for Producers and Leads of the Finnish Game Industry with Adulta, and Music Technology with Sibelius Academy. After quitting Frozenbyte in 2008 (though he continues to have a professional relationship with them), Ari started his own sound production company AriTunes. Since then he has made original soundtrack and sound design for over twenty projects, including video games such as Angry Birds, Dead Nation, Trine 2, Outland and Super Stardust HD. Ari releases his music through his own label AriTunes.On 2 September 2011 in Video Game Heroes Concert, Angry Birds Theme was played by London Philharmonic Orchestra. This is the first time Ari's music was played by a full live orchestra.On 4 October 2011, Ari won the Best Finnish Game Developer in 2011 Award due to his contribution in the Finnish game industry.

Full of semiquavers and scales rushing up to the top of the range of the instrument, there can be no doubt that the tuba is the star of the show. The solo part is carefully thought through with enough rests to make it approachable, while the syncopation in the other parts give the music an energy that is maintained to the very final flourish, instigated by a demisemiquaver scale run on the tuba! Intermediate and above ensemble parts, but the solo tuba part needs a fairly skilled and confident player to get the most out of this piece.

An interim transition is followed by the percussion section leading the way to a big, broad, forte close, punctuated by an unexpected shave and a haircut, two bits stinger on the end. This one is sure to generate smiles in your audience, as your Three Little Trumpeters take their well-deserved bow! All parts are written within the range of young elementary grade musicians. To produce a full sound, many instruments double other instruments, i.e. Eb sax and French horn, low brass and tenor sax, flute and oboe.

Each choir starts out with a pleasing harmonic chorale-like melody which then devolves into antiphonal and echo effects that Gabrieli is best known for. An impressive work for almost any church setting.

One of Gabrieli’s more beautiful and triumphant works, this piece starts out with a somber harmonic display that soon turns major alternating between the choirs. A brief chanson-like dance interlude then leads to the triumphant finale. A great work that displays the full harmonic range of the brass with many of Gabrieli’s typical antiphonal effects.

In the early days of the twentieth century, the popularity of minstrel shows inspired white performers to don blackface and perform coon songs. The most popular of such acts was Al Jolson, famous for singing Mammy. Al Jolson was the most celebrated white popular singer before Frank Sinatra, and he starred in the first talkie (motion picture with sound). That's perfectly awful, but I came across a coon song that I thought had a great tune, and my arrangement worked out fine. Unfortunately, its title is Coon! Coon! Coon!
