The Ring of Brodgar (ORKNEY) is the finest known truly circular late Neolithic or early Bronze Age stone ring and a later expression of the spirit which gave rise to Maeshowe, Stenness and Skara Brae. This quartet was composed for the 'Emminence' brass quartet (Richard Marshall - Philip Cobb - Owen Farr - David Childs), and recorded on their CD 'Jewels'. The three movements have a strong 'Scottish' flavour, both in dance-like and folk-like melody. Duration is approx. 7 minutes.

This is suitable for many occasions and could be used as a concert work or as background music to an event - but it will get your audience's feet tapping! Published by Bill Carmody (A0.748777). This brass quintet arrangement is a terrific Horn feature. Originally written for French horn with string quartet, the string parts are transcribed for 2 trumpets, trombone, and tuba. Horn players love this piece, but seldom get to perform it. Mozart's genius scoring never overpowers the horn line. There are three movements which also work as separate solos. Some lines which are high for brass, are shown in octaves to give the performer a more comfortable choice.
