It was allegedly written for a 5-shilling bet in Stalybridge on January 30, 1912 and performed the next night at the local music hall. Now commonly called It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, the original printed music calls it It’s a Long, Long Way to Tipperary. It became popular among soldiers in the First World War and is remembered as a song of World War I. Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile is the full name of the World War I marching song, published in 1915 in London. It was written by Welsh songwriters, George Henry Powell under the pseudonym of George Asaf, and set to music by his brother Felix Powell. It was featured in the American show Her Soldier Boy, which opened in December 1916. This skillful arrangement by Jari Villanueva captures the flavor of the original tunes and would be a great selection commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I. The arrangement includes the verses of the tunes and the British bugle call Fall In. This clever arrangement culminates in a rousing section that superimposes both tunes. Included is a Full Score and parts for Brass Ensemble. Also included are substitute parts for Eb Horns and Treble Clef Baritone Horn A retired member of the United States Air Force Band where he served on the Music Production staff (as well as a trumpeter and bugler) and a student of Bill Holcombe, Jari Villanueva continues writing for different ensembles. His arrangements are played by bands, brass ensembles and brass quintets all over the country including many military groups. He composed in a variety of musical forms, including divertimenti, trios and string quartets. He was a prolific composer who wrote over 100 pieces of chamber music and is believed to have been a major influence on the music of his students and contemporaries, including Mozart and Beethoven. Haydn's music is known for its balance and clarity in structure. His chamber works were known for their accessibility and elegance, with melodies that were often lighthearted and charming. His symphonies were well-crafted and often featured balanced melodic elements. Haydn composed many well-known divertimenti and trios, but his string quartets are what he is most celebrated for. He wrote some sixty to eighty string quartets, and these works were historically significant for expanding the limits of the genre and for their influence on the composers and musicians who followed him.

William Grant Still's Afro-American Symphony was one of the most significant classical orchestra compositions of the early 1930s to incorporate African-American folk influences.
