La Rejouissance (from Heroic Music) - Georg Philipp Telemann - Brass Choir - Intermediate - Digital Download.Heroic Music (or Heldenmusik) is a suite of twelve short marches and processionals, written by Georg Philipp Telemann in 1728 and is associated with various attributes of Heroism such as Dignity, Bravery and Alertness. All twelve movements have now been transcribed and arranged by Regis Booksgar to be played by Trumpet Quintets or Brass Quinets. Some of them have also been arranged for Sextets, Septets, Octets, Nonets and Brass Choirs. Some also include a Timpani. They can be purchased individually, or, if you prefer, as a complete set of all twelve at a huge saving.Any of these selections would be a wonderful addition to any music library. They are perfectly suited to recitals and public peformances, can stand alone as short interludes and are generally well received by audiences. They are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these arrangements. These selections are some of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after playing through them, making them much easier for most high school students.This selection, La Rejouissance (from Heroic Music), is arranged for a Brass Choir, with parts for 3 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone, 1 Euphonium and 1 Tuba, and is associated with the heroic quality of Joy. There is also a version which includes a Timpani, if you would prefer. The parts may be doubled as needed. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages).Many of these selections are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. We were in a room at Rice University where he teaches after a Texas Brass Quintet rehearsal. This was back when both Dave and I were in the band. I asked him and the hornist if they would stay after the rehearsal to read through my new trio. It was these Four Vignettes.When I finished, I KNEW it was mission accomplished because Dave’s face lit up. The greatest church in the greatest city of Europe. Freedom of intellectual thought. A Venetian School of composers at the forefront of musical innovation. The printing press and musical publishing. A Doge (Chief Magistrate or Duke) willing to spend, and spend big, on musical pomp and ceremony. A dearth of wealth and money to fund the grandest celebrations. He was the leading Italian composer and organist in Venice at its greatest heights at the chasm between the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque period in music. Presented here is an early Canzona published around 1615 for 6 brass. A variety of substitute parts are also included to handle the trumpet and trombone parts with French horns and tubas. The piece starts with a short song-like melody and rhythm that is then repeated with many variations throughout. A nice early introduction to the Gabrieli instrumental ensemble works, published shortly after his death, for a smaller single ensemble.

Published by Kathy Hirche (A0.820034). The Four Seasons is generally considered to be Vivaldi’s most famous work. It is a set of four concerti for Violin, each of the four representing one of the four seasons. A performance of the entire original set would take at least 40 minutes. This version is a collection of the main themes presented as a short suite and takes approximately 5 minutes to perform. Alternatively, each of the movements may be performed as a separate piece. The aim of this arrangement was to give Early Intermediate Level Woodwind and/or Brass players an opportunity to perform what is undoubtedly one of the most well-known pieces of Baroque string repertoire. The instrumentation is flexible, allowing for many different combinations of instruments, including Clarinet Trio/ Ensemble, Saxophone Trio/Ensemble, Brass Trio/Ensemble and even Concert Band. The Solo at the start of the 4th Movement (Winter) is an opportunity to feature a Part 1 player who is more advanced. The inclusion of this short section is entirely optional. Part 4 is optional and can be used to include a Tuba and/or less competent players of Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and F Horn. The inclusion of a Tuba is preferable in the case of a large brass ensemble. The inclusion of a Bass Clarinet (Part 3 or 4) is preferable in a large clarinet ensemble. The score is shown in concert pitch. Octave displacement occurs in some parts. Parts 2, 3 and 4 are kept below the break for the Clarinet and/or Bass Clarinet players. Sweetwater Brass Press #3689775. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808686). This is one of the most beautifully arranged short pieces in the Sweetwater Brass Press catalog. Jean-Paul-Égide Martini wrote Plaisir d'amour in 1784. He took the words from a poem that appears in Célestine, a short novel by Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian. The poem begins, Plaisir d'amour ne dure qu'un moment (The pleasure of love lasts only a moment). Over the years, Martini’s melody has proved popular with other composers, including Hector Berlioz and Louis van Waefelghem. Two relatively recent songs that made use of the plaintiff refrain are the Christian hymn, My God Loves Me and the song Can't Help Falling in Love, which was performed by Elvis Presley in the film, Blue Hawaii. This arrangement is not technically difficult, but it does require discipline and interpretation. As in the original, there are two key changes, F to A-flat and then back to F. The time signature has been changed from Martini’s 6/8 to ¾ but retains all relative note values. Trumpet 1 plays the melody with occasional harmony from Trumpet 2. Horn in F provides arpeggio accompaniment throughout most of the song, with some help from Tuba and Trombone. With respect to high and low notes: Trumpet 1 has one A5 grace note (to a G5 quarter note); Trumpet 2 has three above-staff quarter notes in a row, A5, B5 and A5; Trombone has one F4; and Tuba has a number of F1 notes and one section of octave jumps involving F2 to F3 and A2 to A3. This arrangement was completed in 2018, and performance time runs about 3 minutes, 51 seconds. Scored for 2 B flat Trumpets, Horn in F, 2 Trombones and Tuba, Weekend in Paris is a bright jazz waltz intended to convey the excitement and anticipation of a trip to Paris. The music is to bring to mind pleasure in sightseeing, wandering around cafe's, seeing children at play, people dancing and laughing and families gathering in a happy relaxed atmosphere in the glorious sunshine.The piece is in concert F major establishing the bright swingy rhythm, this then flows into the second section which is more lyrical and legato and is in E flat major. A short bridge section follows keeping the motif's heard in the first section but exploring the lower registers and remains largely legato. The first two sections are then heard again before a modulation takes place to give the piece a final lift before the end. The piece concludes quietly with a snippet of the opening motif.I have set it to intermediate level but the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability.The music would be a great addition to any repertoire as a happy piece, programmatic with a world/travelling theme in mind.Full score 16 pages-parts 4 pages each. 4 mins 15 in length.Price is for score and all parts.NB Versions for Flute choir (4 C flutes, Alto and Bass Flute) and Flute Ensemble of 6 C Flutes are also available as is a Clarinet Choir version.
