When I heard the news about how gravely ill he was I thought to myself that so often we give thanks, honor, or show our love when it is too late. Who wants to be that person? I was finally in the unique position to show my gratitude and love to my parents in the most special way that I could - through music from my heart and soul. I got the courage to look deeply within and then I began to write what was to become the first and second songs, respectively Tears from My Eyes: Remember Your Feelings and Tears from My Eyes: Reflection and Contemplation on my Tears from My Eyes: Songs from my Soul album.You will now be able to do just the same for your loved ones with this new music. Your intermediate level to advanced students and even professional musicians should find this to be a welcomed piece to learn and master. It looks deceptively simple but the learning and challenge comes from two smaller sub-ensembles playing together in their own collective units legato con moto while playing together as a whole music ensemble Everyone will enjoy and bathe in the beautiful harmonies that will resonate when the entire music ensemble begins to listen to each while playing together as a group. Your musicians will hone their skills in playing together with just the right balance that this song requires. Your musicians will also hone their skills for subdividing and maintaining an inner beat that is in sync with your conducting because there is no percussion and the notes are freely flowing on and off the down beat yet not sounding heavily syncopated when performed. When will you know when you have achieved the right balance and flow of the music? You will know when, because you will hear it and feel it when it comes into place. But I can help you with all of this with what I have to offer you today. I share with you now the final and 5th movement to Tears from my Eyes - Onward and Upward (for String Orchestra). This particular was created and produced after the Songs from My Soul album was sent for distribution. So, this song has yet to be officially released. For solo violin, the work represents the natural beauty of the Indiana Dunes National Park on the shore of Lake Michigan in Northern Indiana. https://nationalparkcompositions.com Each of the seven movements depicts some aspect of the Indiana Dunes. Where Northern Indiana and Lake Michigan come together, the Indiana Dunes is a place where wildlife, geography, and human history amplify each other. While there is an order to the work, the performer is free to rearrange the number and order of movements in performance a given performance, to meet time limitations if necessary. The exact date is unknown, but it's for sure before the reformation. The story has some similarities with Tundalls Vision, that served as an inspiration for Dante's inferno.From wikipedia: The protagonist, Olav Åsteson, falls asleep on Christmas Eve and sleeps until the twelfth day of Christmas. Then he wakes, and rides to church to recount his dreams to the congregation, about his journey through the afterlife. The events are in part similar to other medieval ballads like the Lyke Wake Dirge: a moor of thorns, a tall bridge, and a black fire. After these, the protagonist is also allowed to see Hell and some of Heaven. The poem concludes with specific advice of charity and compassion, to avoid the various trials of the afterlife.

The Elf Suite is a piece for solo violin and consists of a March, Dance, Polka, and Waltz and chronicles what I believe to be the events on the day of an Elvian Ball. The March allows some improvisation in the beginning using ricochet and glissando harmonics to imitate the snoring sounds of the elves and also at the end there is improv as the march devolves into chaos. The music incorporates odd meters and scales. The Dance of the Elves was written for and premiered by Eva Ingolf in 2015 at The Composers' Forum in New York and was the first piece written of the suite and he entire Suite was premiered in Sao Paolo Brazil in 2016 by Stephanie Stasiu Bonk. The entire suite's performance takes about 11 minutes with individual dances 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 minutes in length.

The non-jazz improvisation series is a concept that germinated in Dick Weissman's mind while he was attending music school.
