A piano solo begins the conversation, followed by a response by the violin and two of them enter into the conversation. Although there might be disagreement and argument between them, this do not last long. The changes in speed imply the transitions of their emotions. An open conversation is free of forms. I honestly believe that sitting close together and having an open conversation is extremely precious and delightful, and is a common experience shared by everyone. The whole piece is immersed in a harmonious atmosphere of peaceful conversation. The violin and piano gently wave their goodbyes at the end.

Stefano Maria Torchio: ScherzinoAs the title says (engl.: little scherzo), it's a small, playful, light and bouncy piece, that features a free atonal style and funny asimmetrical rhythms and metrics. It's not difficult but it could be wise to practice it slower at first, in order to check careful the intonation and the correct smooth and legato articulation between the fingers of left hand of the Violin player. The most careful precision in rhythm and differentiation between the articulations (that in general tends to a light staccato) is required.The piece is also suitable for school pourposes and concerts and also for liturgical ones (for example at the offertory or as final piece) by special festive occasion. Primarily it was composed for a wedding ceremony and it was for Piano and Organ and for Church Bell Carillon.Composer's dataStefano Maria Torchio, born in Padova (Italy), studied Orchestra and Choir Conducting at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna respectively with U. Lajovic, J. Wildner, E. Ortner and T. Lang. Further studies in Conducting pursued Torchio with Z. Metha, F. Luisi, R. Muti, B. de Billy, S. Young and G. Andretta, as well as with R. Heintze for the Piano, C. Leitner for Opera Conducting and A. Huber for the Musical Analysis. He also studied Composition and Violin at the Conservatory of his home town and with A. Corghi at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, at the Accademia L. Perosi in Biella and at the R. Romanini Foundation in Brescia. Further seminars in Composition followed with C. Ambrosini, I. Fedele, M. Lichtfuss and I. Karchim. Between his Violin teachers S. Domoustchieva, E. Porta, S. Tschakerian and G. Furini are included. In 1853 Charles Czerny took this polka tune and created a piano etude as part of his set Amusement des Juenes Amateurs. I have taken some of his themes and adapted and arranged them for instrumental solo. I have assembled them into a Rondo form: Intro-A-B-A-C-A-D-A-Coda. Â It is an etude (study) to sharpen your playing of scales, arpeggios, melodic interval leaps, and various articulations. But it doesn't at all sound like an exercise because of the playful nature of the polka. This dramatic piece shows your technical accomplishments while delivering a crowd pleasing tune with great flourish.I have marked it as Intermediate in difficulty as a general average. The notes and rhythms are Easy, the quick Tempo makes it Early Intermediate, and the range which is a half step beyond a full 2 octaves makes it Advanced Intermediate for some instruments.
