Arranged for large horn ensemble (10 or 11) plus additional timpani. This arrangement is written for 11 horns, but can be played with 10 horns as well. In that case the 5th horn is canceled and the cue notes must be played in the other parts. The solo horn is not intended as a soloist. The term is used because horns 1 to 4 generally form the original horn parts. It would be strange to name them differently, because horn 2 is normally a low horn and will remain so. The solo horn plus horns 1 to 5 generally form the horn and wind parts in the original score. Horns 6 to 10 generally form the string parts in the original score. The timpani are additional, but I think they add extra color and depth to the score.

The piece begins with a broad fanfare, answered with an exultant chordal line. From there, it moves into its initial stately theme. The theme repeats, this time including a call and response with a second voice.As with all life, however, peace and calm turn into chaos and hardship. Weaving lines and punctuated notes create stress and discord. But soon, all voices move toward agreement and usher in the majestic, slow theme. It brings about hope, signifying beauty and togetherness. The theme repeats with the addition of a soaring descant. From there, we hear a slow but hopeful transition, which leads toward an abbreviated recapitulation of the opening fanfare. The stately theme then returns, followed by a brief coda and a triumphant ending.For 6 horns.

Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a French Horn Sextet, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. As it is simplified, it is intended for beginner students of instrumental music who want to enter orchestral music, even in a simplified and reduced form, and can be used by music teachers with their students in ensemble practice in situations such as academic recitals, didactic concerts, or assessment tests.The Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67, known as the Symphony of Destiny, by Ludwig van Beethoven, written between 1804 and 1808, is one of the most popular and best known compositions in the entire repertoire of European music. The four movements are characterized by orchestral homogeneity, being, at the same time, an example of alternation: the first movement, revealing great tension, denounced by the strings and raised to an extreme drama; the second movement reveals solemnity, in a funeral march that rises by its emotion and beauty; the third movement, a crispness; the fourth movement expresses triumph and magnificence.
