The long, lyrical melody borne forward by the steady, quiet, powerful accompaniment conveys a tranquil sacredness. The sense of entreaty and desire for benediction expressed in the Agnus Dei seems a natural fit with Handel’s famous melody. An instrumental introduction leads to the voice calling out agnus dei, qui tollis peccata mundi. An instrumental meditation follows leading back to the conclusion of the piece. Arrangements for other ensembles are also available (Vocal Solo, SSA, SAB, SATB) as well as separate versions featuring the addition of Solo Violin, Flute, Oboe or Clarinet and soloist with chorus. Difficulty is moderate for the singers, violin and organ. Suitable for a sacred setting or the concert hall. Duration approximately 4 minutes. Score and part included. This is a tuneful and attractive setting of words by Danny Alorean, looking at the town of Bethlehem through the eyes of travelers who are going to see the child Jesus. The main melody is set is 8/8 time which naturally divides into groups of 3+2+3. The middle section is at first contrapuntal then more lyrical and in 4/4. It is more suitable for experienced singers. The work is scored for SAT choir with keyboard accompaniment which makes it ideal for high school and college choirs with no bass section. There are no divisi sections, but several opportunities for optional solos and the piano part is of medium difficulty but could be managed by any competent pianist. This piece would be ideal for a Christmas concert or part of a Christmas service. The vocal ranges are as follows: Soprano C4-G5; Alto A3-D4; Tenor C3-F4. An instrumental introduction leads to the choir section agnus dei, qui tollis peccata mundi. An instrumental meditation follows leading back to the conclusion of the piece. This arrangement avoids the obvious piano chords in the vocal parts, focusing more on melodic polyphony. It is not too difficult to put together and has exciting parts for all singers. I've also done optional parts for the sax/guitar solo in the middle; these are provided in C (treble and bass clefs), B flat and E flat to cater for almost any solo instrument you have available to play it (possibly a choir member?). This solo should be loud and raucous! The piece still works perfectly well without, however. It is great to perform and to listen to for the audience. Enjoy!

Written in British Contemporary style mixing the traditional Christmas Liturgy with English text this Mass starts with a low key Kyrie, before moving through an uplifting Gloria, to a slower Credo, a faster paced Holy, Holy and finally easing into a beautiful warm slow Sanctus to round the piece off. This will challenge your choir and provide them with a beautiful alternative to traditional masses. About 8 mins in length it fits comfortably with your Christmas repertoire. It will provide a challenge but is possible with a good community choir which was who it was performed with originally. Although utilising Christian Liturgy it is suitable for any Christmas concert and will be a worthy addition for any choir or choral group.
