Fanga Alafia is a chant of welcome, from Liberia, in the Yoruba language.Fanga Alafia means hello, we dance a welcome; Aa shay aa shay means come and be with us.It's arranged for SAA, basically treble voices. It's a great song for youngsters (or indeed the young at heart).The second altos, with their skippy rhythm, have the fun of lightening the whole piece - not something that A2s are often asked to do!In the call and response section, especially in verse 4, you could have 1s and 2s doing the call / response, with a sort of contest to see who can sound more welcoming. The song sounds great with a drum.

This Virgina Reel style dance originated in Scotland, but It was popular in the US in the mid-1800s and was called a play party or social dance.Setup: longways setVerse 1: The lead partners link hands and sashay down the center of the lines and then back up to their original spots.Verse 2: Partners do a right elbow turn, then a left elbow turn and back to their original spots.Verse 3: The lead partners cast off and lead their lines to the bottom of the set. The lead partners make an arch for the rest of the partners to go under.Verse 4: The first set of partners to go under the arch lead the lines back to the top of the set and they get ready to become the new lead partners for the next round.This a cappella choral arrangement is also available in 2-part, SAB, and SATB.
