This is an Irish traditional tune. It is claimed O'Carolan wrote it but it is based on an old Irish air so it may not have been just him who wrote it. I have played this tune in many different arrangements and keys but I quite like this one. It has suggested fingering written in. This tune can be learned by any harpist of intermediate standard with a lever harp . From grade 3 upwards. If another key is desired I can upload it as well. When I upload more tunes I fully intend to sell 3 tunes for the price of 2 if that is possible. This tune can also be played on the piano with different fingering.

An old Irish tune probably in praise of another Irish rebel Ruairà Óg Ó Mórdha (Rory O'More). This tune first appeared in one of Bunting's collections. It obviously existed a good while before then. This tune needs an F sharp and does not need lever changes. I have added fingering and dynamics which are optional, but I would highly recommend the 432 fingering on the repetitive notes. If you can get used to them in this tune, you can use them later in triplets in the faster tunes. .

My double-strung harp arrangement in the dorian mode has rolled, echoed chords, highlighting the depth of sound we can get from having two sets of strings. The accompaniment hand traverses the entire range of the harp, often overlapping the melody hand.Range and key: D dorian (all naturals). 24x2 strings. C below middle C through E.Lever changes: None.Good for: Performance, memorials, therapeutic settings.Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Rolled accompaniment chords often contain the same note as the melody, creating a rolled echo. Some chords that aren’t rolled have doubled notes in both hands, creating depth. The repetition of LH patterns makes this a great piece to learn overlapping hands with.Characteristics: Neither hand needs to place more than an octave spread. There are some four-note chords (always LH 1-3-5-8). The RH has almost no chords. Few of the chords are inversions. There are very few sixteenth notes; no more than three played together with one hand. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb. The RH has a few cross-overs/unders.Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff). I like to think it gives spooky filmscore / Wednesday Addams vibes, with a neoclassical air, while still remaining very accessible to a less-experienced musician with a small, simple, or budget instrument.It is in the key of A minor (i.e. no sharps or flats) with no lever changes. It should also already fit the range of most common small harp models, including Harpsicle harps (even if your model has no levers!), Roosebeck Pakistani harps (it goes no lower than the F below middle C), Harp-E harps (it goes no higher than your high E), Dusty Strings Ravenna, Musicmakers Sonnet Lap Harp, and others. It can also, obviously, be played on any and all larger harp models.Played at full-speed, some of the turn-arounds in the right-hand, as well as the octave jump in the middle, can prove tricky (as you can see from my own playing in the video!). But played under tempo and more expressively, it could be accessible even to beginner/early-intermediate harpists, so long as you are learning to replace fingers and change directions.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score. When you download your purchase, you will recieve a pdf that contains both the preview and the full score.Also note: If the preview shows a 4/4 timing, this is a software rendering error. I play this piece on a 38 strings harp tuned in Eb, the lowest note is B0 and the highest is D6. But music is not rigid, you can adapt it to your harp (and send me a video I want to see !!) I hope you get to play it as much as I did. If the ornamentation is too challenging play without. I reckon anybody with beginner/intermediate skills can play this. It is written in the tuning developed at that time by Yatsuhashi Kengyoo who was a famous performer and teacher of the koto. Hirajoshi, or hira-choshi tuning(choshi = tuning and hira = even, level, tranquil, standard or regular) is an adaptation of traditional Shamisen music.Although often heard with modern western harmonies I have chosen to use only the notes available in this pentatonic tuning. With a harp tuned to Bb major you can play this on the white strings of the harp, making it easy to improvise new left hands or interludes of melody by leaving out your C’s and F’s,This arrangement also includes a version transposed for harps tuned in C or F, to facilitate learning by folks who have not a full set of levers.The first verse is notated with alternating stems to indicate alternating hands. Use the 2nd (or 3, 4, or 5th) finger of each hand and play very close to the soundboard to imitate the koto. by alternating hands you can get close to the soundboard and still connect and phrase the notes by placing one finger before the previous one plays, Use your fingernails if possible - I just grow out the baby finger nails and use those fingers for a change!
