Left hand is sparse and contains mostly whole notes. Right hand has some syncopation and is mostly eighth notes, some tied to quarters or half notes. The lowest note, Eb almost two octaves below middle C, is only played once. This piece could easily be played on a 29 string harp with the lowest note being G.

You can do many things to take this piece to the next level in terms of timing and making it sound as musical as possible. Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Late-Intermediate. The right hand plays the melody line embellished with chords underneath, along with a couple of thumb slides and quick placing. The left hand has more challenging cross-unders with 10th intervals, brush muffles, and several lever changes. Both hands do some jumping between registers, and there are many rolled chords and some tempo changes throughout the piece.Type of Harp: Big harp version is for 33-string harps and larger. Small harp version is for 26 string harps and larger.Range: For big harps: the lowest note is C, two octaves below middle C. The highest note is G, two and a half octaves above middle C. It is written in A minor (aka no sharps or flats) and includes no accidentals. As such, it should fit pretty much any standard model of small harp with zero modifications, including any model of Harpsicle Harp (even the ones without levers), Roosebeck Pakistani harps, Harp-E, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, or Dusty Strings Ravenna 26.Because you will need to silence each chord immediately after playing to get that sharp, abbrasive, almost staccato sound from my video (something I didn't have the tools to notate fully in the score), this song is trickier than it looks and is not really a new beginner piece, despite the simple notation. Beginners are, of course, welcome to try playing it exactly as written. But you should know that it will not sound exactly the same.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first line of score (as this composition is so short). Arranged for 26-string harp, although easily playable on larger harps, this version of the famous and greatly requested tune is like a theme and variations. It is well edited with some fingerings, brackets, and dynamic markings, and in the key of E minor. Theme is in 3/4 time and is played through once. Five following variations are in more of a driving 6/8 time. Depending on how fast it's taken, this song can easily fill up a nice segment of set with something very pleasant and not too difficult. The tune is also used as "What Child is This" so could be played at a Christmas gig!
