Here are some key points about this composition:Composition and ContextIt was written around 1707 when Bach was in Arnstadt, making it one of his earlier organ works. It was composed during Bach's time as a church organist at the Neue Kirche (now called Bachkirche) in Arnstadt.Musical StructurePreludeIt opens with nine measures of solo pedals, featuring a recurring sixteenth-note figure and an unusual pedal trill. This divides Bach's original arpeggios between the viola and second violin. These two parts are modestly difficult. Fingerings have been provided for the more awkward arpeggios.
