William Byrd was an English composer and organist who lived during the Renaissance period. He is considered one of the greatest composers of the era and had a profound influence on composers both from his native country and on the Continent. Byrd is best known for his development of the English madrigal and his ability to elevate the English keyboard style through his compositions for virginal and organ music.He was a pupil and protégé of the organist and composer Thomas Tallis, and his first authenticated appointment was as organist at Lincoln Cathedral in 1563. Byrd's output of about 470 compositions amply justifies his reputation as one of the great masters of European Renaissance music.He was adept at attracting sponsorship, and his most important patrons were Roman Catholic sympathizers. Byrd was responsible for publishing about ten volumes of songs by other composers, his role as publisher allowing him to play an even more prominent part in making both literary and musical composition much more broadly available to a public audience.William Byrd's Fantasias are considered to be highly important. Byrd, an English composer of the Renaissance, played a significant role in pioneering the development of the freely composed fantasia, which became an essential form of Jacobean and later composers. His array of sacred and secular compositions demonstrates a deeply sophisticated musical mind, blending technical prowess and emotional fervor. Byrd is regarded as one of the most prolific composers of the Renaissance, with over 600 of his pieces circulating. Therefore, the Fantasias of William Byrd hold great significance in the history of music.

(Spanish below) Based on the suite A Symphonic Fantasy, we did a conversion with three of the most remembered melodies from Mary Poppins. You have an intro with chim-chim-cheree, followed by feed the birds, but they don't fully develop. After that, A Spoon of Sugar, with the birds part made by the first violin and the second and viola enkoying. The next part is, now complete, Chim-Chim-Cheree, with the melody starting in the cello, and then passing by the rest of instruments from lower to higher. When the second plays the melody, the first plays a counter-theme a little bit tricky. And, in the end, now complete, Feed the Birds, with constant dialogs between the violins. Tested and approved arrangement. All Nonamé arrangements are prepared to avoid page turns if you print the covers properly. Basándonos en la suite A Symphonic Fantasy, hicimos una conversión con tres de las melodÃÂas más recordadas de Mary Poppins. The Lieder for voice and piano by Felix Mendelssohn, while of high quality, have mostly been overshadowed by those of his contemporary and friend Robert Schumann. But his Lieder ohne Worte (Songs Without Words) for piano solo with no vocal text, were and remain immensely popular, and had a great influence on his fellow composers, creating a genre of short poetic pieces for piano accessible to skilled amateurs and students as well as professionals.This set of four arrangements for string quartet begins with the best known and most loved of his vocal songs, Auf Flügeln des Gesanges (On Wings of Song), a setting of a poem by Heinrich Heine. Following are two Songs Without Words, a fine untitled one in G Major, and the famous Frühlingslied (Spring Song).In between them is a piece by his older sister, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, an accomplished composer with a catalog of over 450 works, some of which were originally published under Felix’s name. Like Felix, she wrote Lieder both with a sung text, and with no words, which she called Lieder für das Pianoforte. This little jewel is one of the latter, from her Opus 8. She gave it the title Lied (Lenau), a reference to the poet Nikolaus Lenau (1802-1850). But with neither sung text nor poem title indicated, it is a little mysterious. A gentle sinuous melody leads to some bold modulations before returning, not in the expected tonic key but on the dominant. Only in the last few bars does it resolve to the home key. The arrangement transposes the original D-Flat Major to D Major, which lies better for strings.
