String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1296215 Composed by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 7 pages. Jmsgu3 #886460. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1296215). Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was a Dutch organist and composer who lived from April 1562 to October 16, 1621. He was born and died in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Sweelinck's first published works date from around 1592-94, and he composed a variety of music, including chansons and keyboard music. He was known for his keyboard playing and was a teacher to German composers Samuel Scheidt and Heinrich Scheidemann.  Sweelinck's Echo Fantasias are significant for several reasons:Innovative composition: Echo Fantasias were a unique form of composition during Sweelinck's time, blending elements of traditional fantasias with passages dedicated to echo effects. This experimental approach showcased Sweelinck's creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of musical expression. Emphasis on the moment: Unlike Sweelinck's larger fantasias, the construction of Echo Fantasias was less strict, focusing more on the immediate musical experience rather than the overall design. This emphasis on the moment allowed for greater freedom and spontaneity in the performance of these pieces. Stylistic range: Echo Fantasias encompassed a wide range of styles, juxtaposing fantasia-like elements with passages dedicated to echo effects. This stylistic diversity added depth and complexity to Sweelinck's compositions, making them engaging and intriguing for both performers and listeners.

Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 29 pages. Jmsgu3 #885988. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1295690).

Published by Samuel Cho (A0.940427). DUANG for string quartetIn 2004, Jackie Chan coined the word Duang in a shampoo commercial and since then it's become a viral meme in China. Originally, Jackie Chan used this word as an onomatopoeia to describe his hair. But you could probably use the word in any way you like and it will still make sense. For this reason I chose this as the quartet's title, since the musical material requires many, many bouncing of the bows.....Duang is a piece that pulses with rhythm and is suitable for young quartets who have a need for speed or simply something that gets their energy pumped. It requires concentrated coordination and a fine sense of balance from the players as the dynamic ranges from almost nothing to triple fortes.

String quartet - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q20907 For string quartet. Composed by Detlev Mueller-Siemens. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 12 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q20907. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q20907). ...called dusk II for string quartet draws its inspiration from a line in Samuel Beckett’s short story Lessness: 'Figment dawn dispeller of figments and the other called dusk'. The work is a kind of double Chaconne, each part of which contains 26 chords based on specific permutations of fundamental notes and their harmonics. Each of the parts pass through alternating, harmonically contrasted planes, becoming entwined in the manner of a chimera through their rhythmic structure and dynamics. This intermittently produces a sort of ‘inner voice’ which runs through all four instruments. The fundamental notes and harmonics separate during the progress of the composition, becoming independent and then disintegrating. The consonant harmony resulting from the amalgamation of the two planes ultimately collapses into a rigid motor-like linearity. Detlev Müller-Siemens.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719579 Composed by Curtis Hanson. Contemporary. Score and parts. 47 pages. Curtis Hanson #2715. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719579). September 11, 2001 has had a profound affect on many people, not the least of which is the composer of this work. Written the month following the tragic events of 9/11, it is a reflection of the chaotic times in which we live. Originally written for SATB chorus and strings, Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace) is a prayer for peace to the loving God of all people, that out of our current discord peace and harmony may come to all humanity. In this setting a string quartet plays what was originally the choral part. It can also be played by a fuller ensemble creating a double string orchestra arrangement. The work is in three sections (ABA) with a coda. Throughout these sections the melody wanders in search of a harmonious resting point. In the B section the quartet and strings part ways and resonate increased dissonance. The second A section exactly duplicates the first. The work concludes with an ever-increasing sense of harmonious repose. The listener may hear occasional reflections of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings or Pavane for a Dead Princess by Maurice Ravel. Dona Nobis Pacem was premiered as a choral work in May 2003 by the combined choirs of the John Duss Music Conservatory, Duluth MN, and Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Superior WI, under the direction of the composer. It is purely coincidental that there are 191 measures in the work......the numbers in the date of 9/11. Contains full score and parts.
