Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.1433607). “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” is a Chriatian hymn written in 1855 by preacher Joseph M. Scriven. The motive for writing this poem was to comfort his mother, who was in Ireland while M.Scriven was living in Canada, when she lay sick in her bed. Scriven originally wrote this poem anonymously, and it was not until 1880 that his name became known. The hymn's melody was composed by Charles Crozat Converse in 1868. I quoted this beautiful melody and arranged it into a small violin concerto format.

Un amigo que me enseñó que siempre tendrÃamos que luchar por mis sueños y que si la música era uno de ellos el siempre estarÃa ahà para apoyarme. Lastimosamente Dios lo llamo a ser parte de su coro de ángeles y ahora sé que desde allà no estarÃa más orgulloso que viéndome cumplir mi sueño. Ésta pequeña y sencilla es también un homenaje a esa música que nace de los simples sonidos, sonidos que convertidos en melodÃa y amalgamados con un ritmo cadencioso y una sutil armonÃa crean la más bella de las músicas. Un homenaje a la música andina. Takihuaira es el mestizaje musical de la cultura oriental con la hermosura andina suramericana.

Key: D major.Mozart schrieb das Rondo C-dur, KV 373 für Violine und Orchester 1781 für Antonio Brunetti, dem Konzertmeister der Salzburger Kapelle. Bereits im selben Jahr wurde das Werk von Brunetti aufgeführt; gedruckt wurde es aber erst 1800, neun Jahre nach Mozarts Tod. Ein Jahr später erschien eine nach D-dur transponierte Fassung für Querflöte und Orchester. Zur Zeit der Klassik war das Uminstrumentieren eigener oder fremder Werke nicht mehr so üblich wie im Barock. Aber es gibt noch genügend Beispiele; gerade Mozart liefert den besten Beweis (KV 413). Im Gegensatz zu der Ausgabe von 1801 ist die vorliegende Fassung enger am Originaltext orientiert, behält aber die Transposition nach D-dur bei; die Praxis hat gezeigt, dass die Querflöte in der D-dur-Fassung besser klingt.

Torchio: En Archè en o Logos (2007)A deep and powerful reflection on the first lines of John's Gospel and the mistery of the Creation and of the beginning. The fascinating sound of ancient Greek creates a dialectic relationship with the modern international english language. All happens wihin a very interesting proposal for an avantgarde sacred music fitted for liturgical uses too. A considerable number of singers and of strings is required in order to create an adequate sound space and colour. Particular care is required by the intonation and the creation and substain of the right tone (which are perhaps the biggest challenge by the piece) but the entire music created by the phonemata and the training about it could be very funny and very precious and helpful for an interesting growth of a very fine Choir. The piece won the International Composition Competition Anima Mundi organized by the Opera Primaziale di Pisa in 2009.Stefano Maria TorchioItalian Violinist, Composer and Conductor, spent his education between Italy and the University of Music and Performing Art in Vienna, where he studied Orchestral Conducting with U. Lajovic and J. Wildner and Choir Conducting with E. Ortner and T. Lang. Further studies made Torchio in Violin, Composition and Organ at the Music Conservatory of Padua (his home town).He won prizes by international composition competitions like the Anima Mundi of the Opera Primaziale di Pisa, the A. Casella of the Accademia Chigiana of Siena, In memoriam... Johannes XXIII of Comune di Sotto il Monte, the MiniMusicDrama of Ovada and the Composition Prize of the Music Conservatory of Padua. The fascinating sound of ancient Greek creates a dialectic relationship with the modern international english language. All happens wihin a very interesting proposal for an avantgarde sacred music fitted for liturgical uses too. A considerable number of singers and of strings is required in order to create an adequate sound space and colour. Particular care is required by the intonation and the creation and substain of the right tone (which are perhaps the biggest challenge by the piece) but the entire music created by the phonemata and the training about it could be very funny and very precious and helpful for an interesting growth of a very fine Choir.
