Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533598 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary. Score and parts. 34 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3030255. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533598). Symphony No. 2, Litanies of Love and Rain (2004) for orchestra is a symphonic work in onemovement. It is dedicated to Marisa Green. The work is inspired by a poem (Desiring the Solicitude of Rain) by American poet Kathleen Wakefield. The landscape of rich imagery in Wakefield's poem drives the extra-musical inspiration of this work. Musical material from the earlier vocal work is re-imagined in a purely orchestral context.Wakefield's poem contains images and messages of love and journey amidst the desire for the coming of rain. It is these ideas which provided the poetic conception of the work. Throughout the piece, the winds and brass play an extensive lyric and melodic role. A strand of singing lyricism runs throughout. Instruments are always exploring and highlighting theresonances in melodic and contrapuntal lines of other instruments. The work is cast in three sections (slow-fast-slow) plus a coda. The opening section begins with a forceful gesture that returns throughout the work as a signal. A melodic idea (containing the basic material of the work) is presented in the clarinet and it is developed throughout the rest ofthe section. A faster section emerges in a burst of energy as instruments hocket off each other. The next section is marked slow, ritualistic. The strings create an otherworldly harmonic cloud of gradually shifting and overlapping harmonies. Through this cloud, bassoon, trumpet, and flute solos emerge. Finally, the opening music is recalled in the coda as the potential energy continues to build. The work ends with a surge of anticipation -- the rain is about to come and it can be imagined just beyond the horizon.Orchestration: 2222/2200/1perc/stringsParts on rental from the publisher.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533574 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 65 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3024985. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533574). Quintet for Bassoon and Strings (2005–08) was commissioned by The Commission Projectand is dedicated to Klaus Heymann, in tribute for his invigoration of the classical recordingindustry and his enthusiastic support for the composers of our time. The original conception for the work was devised during an extremely foggy week onNantucket Island, Massachusetts in the summer of 2005. It is music deeply connected to theocean landscape. Throughout the work, the strings often present a fog-like backdrop, through which the bassoon’s color emerges like a lighthouse beacon—lyrical and flexible. The work opens with a series of interlocking, nebulous figurations in the strings thatgradually build in intensity. The bassoon unfolds the work’s basic melodic material in a freesolo that also increases in intensity. At the point of climax, the tempo suddenly slowsdramatically, and a tender, lyrical cantilena emerges. As this music dissolves, a bouncy andenergetic music takes the foreground. It climaxes in a bassoon cadenza. Though the bassoonhas played the leader throughout, this is the first time it is heard unaccompanied. A brief, but vigorous afterglow recalls the opening of the work. The final section emerges out of it: aseries of high, distant harmonics (perhaps harbor buoys) in the strings through which thebassoon sings a final song.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011208 Composed by Franco Esteve. Contemporary,Film/TV. Score and parts. 17 pages. Franco Esteve #4601475. Published by Franco Esteve (A0.1011208). The Hunt is the title track to my modern, classical crossover, concept album, The Hunt. The Hunt is the hunt of life, hunting for health, for life, for happiness, for love, for ideas, for creativity, for success. The song represents the drive, the moving, the launch, that hope, that happiness, when you set out to do something in your life. From the album booklet (as it's a concept album, each song, though independent, has an overarching story):The effort has paid off. The day is here. The mood is happy. Success awaits. Let's go.Let's do it. It's sitting there for the taking.I'm in the zone. I'm in the flow. The huntress has shown me the bounty, and I'm ready to take it, to receive it, to enjoy it. I deserve it.Though it was written with larger groups in mind or small orchestras, keeping it in a way quite simple, it can most likely be played with 2 clarinets, a cello, and a trumpet. I can imagine it can work quite nicely with a school orchestra or any small ensemble, even if some might need to make some minor adjustments to how it's played. It's meant to be played in an upbeat and happy fashion, and the trumpet should be sexy and fun. It'll be fun to hear how others interpret it.The PDF includes the full score and all 4 individual parts (Clarinet, Clarinet Section in Bb, Cellos, Trumpet Section in Bb). The music is 2 minutes and 41 seconds (2:41).Thank you for your interest in my music. I hope y’all enjoy playing it as much as I did composing it.Don’t forget to keep up to date with everything Franco Esteve:Website: http://www.francoesteve.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/seefrancoesteveTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/FrancoEsteveInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/seefrancoesteveSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4VMSPHtolbzozjH4OY0I6BMy music is also available on all major, online music stores and streaming services, including:Bandcamp: https://francoesteve.bandcamp.comCDBaby: https://store.cdbaby.com/Artist/FrancoEsteveSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4VMSPHtolbzozjH4OY0I6BiTunes/Apple Music: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/franco-esteve/894690746I'm a BMI affiliated artist and you can contact me using the contact form at:http://www.francoesteve.com or through Facebook or Twitter. Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1415801 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Adrian Gagiu. Classical. 190 pages. Adrian Gagiu #997496. Published by Adrian Gagiu (A0.1415801). Score and parts of a premiere realization of some of Beethoven's sketches for the first movement of another Symphony in C major before the First, dubbed 'No. 0' or Unv. 2 by some: 1. 'Overture' (Andante con moto - Allegro con brio), 2. Tempo di menuetto. Useful for people interested in Beethoven's sketches and for students of the Classical style. In 1794-1796, Beethoven made extensive concept sketches mostly for the first movement of this abortive symphony. The material is abundant and sometimes contradictory, as usual with his preliminary work, and he recycled later from this one only the main theme of the Finale of the completed Symphony No. 1. For this speculative realization, suggested by Mr. Armando Orlandi at the Centro Ricerche Musicali and dedicated to them, only the more promising sketches were utilized, and the slow introduction was assembled from the ones in cut time, while those in triple time make up now a Minuet. Virtually every bar of music here includes the sketches, also in the elaboration and coda of the 'overture', only with a few transpositions needed for assembling the sonata form and for the repeats in the Minuet. Obviously, Beethoven would have done it much differently, had he decided to continue working on this symphony, and the question remains regarding the utility of recycling material abandoned by some classical composer. However, this gives one an approximate idea of one of the many possibilities implied by the preliminary sketches for his Symphony 'No. 0'. Total duration 15 minutes. The mp3 audio clip is the first movement. Performing Rights Organization: SOCAN.

Seen in this way, a concert reflects a value system that pits the individual against the group and poses a struggle of I against you. Surely this vehemence could be explained in a Beethovenian era when the concepts of human rights and individual freedom were fragile ideals. However, it is a different scale of values that my piano concerto tries to reflect: the idea of cooperation, of teamwork and of an orchestra as a living organism whose organs are not superior to one another, more vital than others, but fulfil different functions, qualitatively speaking.Every soloist plays a leading role, but this does not imply either subordination to the rest or denigration or subjugation of the rest. The fact that the soloist is sometimes in the foreground does not imply a victory over the others. The very concept of victory is meaningless here.At times, the soloist will fulfil a leadership role, at others he or she will underpin from passivity what is happening in the orchestra, intentionally from the shadows, as a grey eminence. And at other times - why not - he will question what the majority is doing. It is not a rough relationship of me against you, but there is also a we.The composition and orchestration of this piano concerto was made possible by a grant from the Senator for Culture of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1126484 Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 40 pages. Studio at the Post #727154. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1126484). Score only (see A727154 for Parts) Duration: 11 - 12 minutes, 37 pp. Description: In Korneitchouk's mischievously titled quasi-concerto for saxophone and orchestra, The Disqualification of Harry Semantix as Trial Juror for East County, the concept of Truth and Lie is explored musically, as well as metaphorically implying something deeper. The Truth (the opening theme after an introduction pieces it together) is slowly mutated into its opposite, the Lie -- upside down, backward, twice as long and strident (the closing theme just before the double cadenza at the end of the piece). The double cadenza, is in fact a cadenza for the saxophone played over a wild orchestral stretto -- a kind of orchestral cadenza -- both simultaneously intoning bits and pieces of either theme, and seems to ask: Can Truth coexist with its Lie? or perhaps, Can Truth exist without its Lie? The first incarnation of The Disqualification of Harry... (available on CD from Old King Cole Productions) appears as a duo for saxophone and piano and has only more recently been orchestrated. The composer tells us that the idea for this piece initially germinated from his own frustrations of having to serve jury duty and being disqualified as a potential juror for answering honestly during jury selection. East County is to be understood as Any County..

The piece consists four sections, and the composer developed the main motives and elements from the melody of a Taiwanese children's rhyme, The Little Egret, as the base of this composition. Although there are always subtle differences change steadily in every section, the development of the main motives are very simple and clear in this piece, implies as if the diversities will finally purify and unite to one simple concept/idea, even they are developed in different ways. This symbolizes the little egret flies over different mountains and valleys, but always seeking the way to the only place for peace and happiness. The Egret’s Wishes was premiered in the National Cocnert Hall on 25th of August 2002. It was pragrammed in a concert of The 2nd Taiwan-Canada Summer Music Festival. The world premiere musicians were Kiai Nara (Piano), Edmond Agopian (Violin I), Meng-Ping Wu (Violin II), Jui-Se Yang (Viola) and I-Wen Lin (Cello).

Duration: 11 - 12 minutes, 23 Parts including soloist, parts averaging 3 -5 pp., soloist part 9 pp.

Throughout his career, Beethoven made dozens of concept sketches for many movements of symphonies, besides those for the completed nine compositions of that genre. In the period 1812-1816, mainly during the composition of the Seventh and Eighth Symphonies, there were three recurring such projected works in his sketchbooks, namely in D minor, E minor and E flat major respectively, and remarkably with sketches for more than one of their movements. The present symphony in late Classical style is based on those projects, making use of all their themes in a „combined†symphony in D minor and thus with peculiar tonal relationships. The incentive for this new work in the Classical idiom was in the quality and potential of some of the sketches, especially the one included now in the main theme of the slow movement. Some of the sketched material was subject to transpositions and adaptations to fit the formal outlook, and to editorial choices for the unclear pitches and durations. This publication includes the score and parts. The sketchbook sources for each passage are mentioned at the bottom of the score. Total duration: 36 min. Performing Rights Organization: SOCAN. The mp3 recording is the third, slow movement.

This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 100' 0. Schott Music - Digital #Q7038. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7038). Latin • German. On letting go(Concerning the selection of the texts) In the selection of the texts, I have allowed myself to be motivated and inspired by the concept of “letting goâ€. This appears to me to be one of the essential aspects of dying, but also of life itself. We humans cling far too strongly to successful achievements, whether they have to do with material or ideal values, or relationships of all kinds. We cannot and do not want to let go, almost as if our life depended on it. As we will have to practise the art of letting go at the latest during our hour of death, perhaps we could already make a start on this while we are still alive. Tagore describes this farewell with very simple but strikingly vivid imagery: “I will return the key of my doorâ€. I have set this text for tenor solo. Here I imagine, and have correspondingly noted in a certain passage of the score, that the protagonist finds himself as though “in an ocean†of voices in which he is however not drowning, but immersing himself in complete relaxation. The phenomenon of letting go is described even more simply and tersely in Psalm 90, verse 12: “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdomâ€. This cannot be expressed more plainly.I have begun the requiem with a solo boy’s voice singing the beginning of this psalm on a single note, the note A. This in effect says it all. The work comes full circle at the culmination with a repeat of the psalm which subsequently leads into a resplendent “lux aeternaâ€. The intermediate texts of the Requiem which highlight the phenomenon of letting go in the widest spectrum of colours originate on the one hand from the Latin liturgy of the Messa da Requiem (In Paradisum, Libera me, Requiem aeternam, Mors stupebit) and on the other hand from poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, Hermann Hesse, Rabindranath Tagore and Rainer Maria Rilke. All texts have a distinctive positive element in common and view death as being an organic process within the great system of the universe, for example when Hermann Hesse writes: “Entreiß dich, Seele, nun der Zeit, entreiß dich deinen Sorgen und mache dich zum Flug bereit in den ersehnten Morgen†[“Tear yourself way , o soul, from time, tear yourself away from your sorrows and prepare yourself to fly away into the long-awaited morningâ€] and later: “Und die Seele unbewacht will in freien Flügen schweben, um im Zauberkreis der Nacht tief und tausendfach zu leben†[“And the unfettered soul strives to soar in free flight to live in the magic sphere of the night, deep and thousandfoldâ€]. Or Joseph von Eichendorff whose text evokes a distant song in his lines: “Und meine Seele spannte weit ihre Flügel aus. Flog durch die stillen Lande, als flöge sie nach Haus†[“And my soul spread its wings wide. Flew through the still country as if homeward bound.â€]Here a strong romantically tinged occidental resonance can be detected which is however also accompanied by a universal spirit going far beyond all cultures and religions. In the beginning was the sound Long before any sort of word or meaningful phrase was uttered by vocal chords, sounds, vibrations and tones already existed. This brings us back to the music. Both during my years of study and at subsequent periods, I had been an active participant in the world of contemporary music, both as percussionist and also as conductor and composer. My early scores had a somewhat adventurous appearance, filled with an abundance of small black dots: no rhythm could be too complicated, no register too extreme and no harmony too dissonant. I devoted myself intensely to the handling of different parameters which in serial music coexist in total equality: I also studied aleatory principles and so-called minimal music.I subsequently emigrated and took up residence in Spain from where I embarked on numerous travels over the years to India, Africa and South America. I spent repeated periods during this time as a resident in non-European countries. This meant that the currents of contemporary music swept past me vaguely and at a great distance. What I instead absorbed during this period were other completely new cultures in which I attempted to immerse myself as intensively as possible.I learned foreign languages and came into contact with musicians of all classes and styles who had a different cultural heritage than my own: I was intoxicated with the diversity of artistic potential.Nevertheless, the further I distanced myself from my own Western musical heritage, the more this returned insistently in my consciousness. The scene can be imagined of sitting somewhere in the middle of the Brazilian jungle surrounded by the wailing of Indians and out of the blue being provided with the opportunity to hear Beethoven’s late string quartets: this can be a heart-wrenching experience, akin to an identity crisis. This type of experience can also be described as cathartic. Whatever the circumstances, my “renewed†occupation with the “old†country would not permit me to return to the point at which I as an audacious young student had maltreated the musical parameters of so-called contemporary music. A completely different approach would be necessary: an extremely careful approach, inching my way gradually back into the Western world: an approach which would welcome tradition back into the fold, attempt to unfurl the petals and gently infuse this tradition with a breath of contemporary life.Although I am aware that I will not unleash a revolution or scandal with this approach, I am nevertheless confident as, with the musical vocabulary of this Requiem, I am travelling in an orbit in which no ballast or complex structures will be transported or intimated: on the contrary, I have attempted to form the message of the texts in music with the naivety of a “homecomerâ€. Chamber Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.944032 Composed by Ofer Ben-Amots. Contemporary,Jewish,World. Score and parts. 118 pages. The Composer's Own Press #4610029. Published by The Composer's Own Press (A0.944032). CONCERTINO, for Clarinet, Mandolin, and Orchestra CONCERTINO was officially commissioned in 2011 by the Geneva Chamber Orchestra. The composition explores the sound combination of two, seemingly opposing, instruments and sound characters: the clarinet and the mandolin. Thus, the three-movement work is a short double-concerto for clarinet and mandolin, accompanied by a chamber orchestra. The first movement, titled Psalm 148 and is a mixture of a coronation fanfare and a wild improvisatory-like dance. The music is based on the structure and ideas expressed in the 148th Psalm. For the transformation of this Psalmodic text into music I was concerned with two elements: first, the linguistic pulse of the ancient Biblical Hebrew gives the music its ever-changing meters and vibrant rhythms. The second element was the poetic concept presented in the text: Heaven vs. Earth, Universe vs. Planet, or Heights vs. Depths. The contrasting nature of these elements is described in the following verses: Hallelujah, Praise ye the LORD from the heavens; praise Him in the heights. (Psalm 148, verse 1) Praise the LORD from the earth, ye sea-monsters, and all deeps. (Psalm 148, verse 7) Finally, both Heaven and Earth join in praise together: Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven. (Psalm 148, verse 13) The musical expression of these contraries is reflected and the use of high-range and soprano instruments (flutes, clarinet, trumpets, violins) versus low-range instruments (trombone, bassoons, cellos and basses.) The second movement, Romacero Viejo (and old love song) is a slow, lyrical dirge-like melody in a Sephardic Judeo-spanish style. In this movement the mandolin plays in the manner of an Oud – a traditional pear-shaped Arabic lute. The harmony sits mostly on a single pedal note while the clarinet imitates the chant with rhythmically free ornatmental patterns. The third and final movement, Allegro con brio, is a festive klezmer dance with a traditional Bulgar (or Freylech) rhythm, where the regular 8/8 meter is constantly divided into the irregular count of: 3+3+2. In the middle of this movement the two soloists play a cadenza, which allows them to present their contrasting yet complementary instrumental characters. The movement is titled The Geneva Bulgar in honor of the City of Geneva and the wonderful memories I have been carrying with me ever since my time there as a young student at the Conservatoire de Musique. Total duration: ca. 23 min.Performance material by rental only! For demo recording, questions, or any additional information please e-mail Ofer Ben-Amots at: thecomposerspress@gmail.com
