This is Scimitars of the Storm, an original orchestral composition made by Anthony Plominski. This piece includes 14 instruments of various types, though it can all be played one intrument, most commonly the piano. This piece has a dramatic, epic, battle sort of theme to it, which the many intruments help create. That epic feel keeps throughout the entire composition, though it still has variety and interesting parts to it. The difficulty of this piece can vary depending on what intrument is performing its part, though there is a decent amount of skill an experience required to play it.Loads of thought and effort went into this composition, despite it only being just over two minutes when correctly played. We hope that you enjoy playing this piece!

In 1785, he composed a Masonic funeral music. This short but extremely poignant work is often seen as a stepping-stone between the Great Mass in C minor and the Requiem. Despite being considered one of Mozart's absolute masterpieces, it is rarely performed due to the uniqueness of its original orchestration: 2 Oboes, 1 Clarinet, 3 Basset Horns, 1 Contrabassoon, 2 Horns, Strings.An ideal orchestral introduction to Mozart’s Requiem KV 626, it is however virtually never performed in the same program, due to the completely different orchestrations and keys of the two pieces. This arrangement makes the Masonic Funeral Music match with the key (D minor) and the uniquely peculiar orchestration of the Requiem (2 Basset Horns, 2 Bassoons, 2 Trumpets, Timpani, 3 Trombones, Strings), recreating the nuances of the original piece with the colors of Mozart’s last composition.

Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q2899). German.During the period in which these arrangements were created, Hans Werner Henze was far from being a Wagnerite. Despite this, he deliberately set out to study Wagner's music. Tristan und Isolde was the opera Henze found most accessible and it was therefore the Wesendonck-Lieder, dating from 1858 with their clear affinity to the harmony of Tristan, which became Henze’s focal point of interest. In his arrangements he was aiming 'to evoke the pre-Tristan state. For this reason, I have selected a small ensemble consisting of seven wind instruments, two horns, harp and small string orchestra to retain the preliminary study character of these Lieder. At the same time however, I am attempting to permit the Tristanesque tone which is already inherent in the piano version to unfold through harmonic separation.' - Hans Werner Henze.
