Marek Czekala #747911. Published by Marek Czekala (A0.1147693). From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Unchained Melody is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the prison film Unchained (1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers in 1965. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of Unchained Melody have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages. The Righteous Brothers recording achieved a second round of great popularity when featured in the film Ghost in 1990. In 2004, it was number 27 on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema.

Entre Nous was originally premiered in Omaha, Nebraska with the University of Nebraska Chamber Orchestra. Soon, Entre Nous made it's way to places such as Florida, Texas, and most recently, Iowa, where this newest revision was premiered. Entre Nous has faired well in competition and recital and is sure to be a great addition the repertoire of any chamber orchestra.Entre Nous (between me and thee) is a conversation between a man and his God. It is a single movement, ternary composition, mirroring the Holy Trinity. Beginning in a solemn g minor, it quickly moves forward with an endless flow of eighth note counterpoint, emerging enchantingly into the flowing melancholy melody of the B section. The second A surfaces in a minor with a sudden new energy and direction, slipping into a deeply contemplative, ethereally enchanting ending.Entre Nous is also a very unique and interesting piece, perhaps the reason for its popularity. Structurally, it turns upside-down a number of times, each line becoming the melody at some point. A very linear piece, melodic interweaving and predominance give Entre Nous a characteristic that can be best described as enchanting. Much of the melody being perceived is actually a combination of several lines of music at once, often in contrast to another melody or two beneath.Premiere: University of Nebraska at Omaha - Chamber Orchestra - April 30, 1997Difficulty: Moderate - A great piece for middle school or youth orchestras. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, written by the Father of English Hymnody, Isaac Watts, in 1707 and later matched with Lowell Mason’s 1824 tune, HAMBURG, has long stood at the forefront of English hymnody.This arrangement, taken from my Passion Week cantata, Wounded, Bleeding, Still Proceeding, allows the full talent-spectrum of the Body of Christ to contemplate His sacrifice and offer their devotion.The first two stanzas feature an alto/soprano duet, set in a minor key with frequent diminished and augmented chords to reflect the despair and loss of a witness to the crucifixion. The entire third stanza, set for SATB chorus, never really moves off the F minor tonic until the end. That, and the relentless pounding of the bass line, ponders the witnesses' anguish and our vicarious experience of it through Scripture. So, sing these stanzas sadly – they are sad! When the choir enters, be sure to observe the swelling crescendos/diminuendos as the sorrow and love mingle together.The fourth stanza offers optional congregational participation and may be used to provide a responsorial to the Word of God or a preparation for the Table. The choir sings this stanza in four part harmony as the congregation joins on the melody. It stays in a major key and closely follows the traditional consonances used in Lowell Mason’s harmonization; thus, the choral parts will feel familiar and the congregational melody will flow naturally. Take the text literally (Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.) and sing it firmly, enthusiastically, passionately, but never triumphantly. Sing it as a song of personal devotion to commit all that you have, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, to the one who humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Phil 2:8b) so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor 5:21)The music is well within the grasp of any ensemble competent with traditional SATB anthems. The instrumental accompaniments are straightforward yet very colorful, suitable for high school or higher level players. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross is an unapologetic Christian worship anthem suitable for sacred services, yet it does not compromise on artistic expression.This is the orchestral accompaniment for the choral octavo version sold separately. Arizona Centennial Overture was commissioned by the Arizona Commission on the Arts as part of the Centennial Legacy Project to help celebrate Arizona’s centennial. There are three versions of the compositions, chamber orchestra, full orchestra, and band. The overture pays tribute to the unique blend of the various cultures that had a part in shaping Arizona into what it is today. This six and a half minute composition is divided into three main sections. The first section begins with fanfares that announce the celebration. After thirty seconds, the introduction fades into music that pays tribute to the pioneers that migrated to Arizona. The music has a rustic quality reflecting the pioneering spirit of the ranchers, farmers, miners, and merchants who came to Arizona seeking a better way of life. This section is intended to be inclusive as it is impossible to represent each culture individually in a short musical composition. The second section pays tribute to the various Native American cultures that are a large part of Arizona’s history and its present way of life. Flutes and percussion instruments are used in the beginning of this section to represent the Native American respect for nature. This quiet section evolves into a ceremonial dance that increases in intensity. Towards the end of this section one hears fragments of the pioneer melody as these culture come together. The third section is influenced by Mariachi music to recognize the Hispanic influence in Arizona. The first part uses an original rollicking tune with four beats to the measure over syncopation. The second part contains a lyrical melody with three beats to the measure accompanied by instruments playing accents that create the Hispanic sounding grouping of six notes into three groups of two alternating with two groups of three. A brief ending using the fanfares of celebration interspersed with figures from the Native American and pioneer sections brings the work to a rousing close. The score prints on legal size paper and the parts on letter.

Published by Adrian Dee (A0.817949). I wrote Fantasy in the late spring of 2019. Before I could arrange a premier, the COVID-19 pandemic set in and everything stopped. I finally had the joy of premiering the piece on December 8, 2021, with my home team the Newport Symphony in Newport, Oregon, with Adam Flatt conducting. The audience was on their feet for both the matinee and the evening performances, so I guess they liked it! The piece is melodic, rhythmic, tonal, and just plain fun to play. It goes together easily. Each movement is about five and a half minutes, total play time about 17 minutes. It is appropriate for advanced student groups as well as professional groups. The first movement, Busy Day (Presto), makes repeated use of a four-note motif (G-F-A-D) and is a driving non-stop articulated melody. The second movement, Lullabye (Andante), opens and closes with the flute playing a brief cadenza, floating above an ambiguous chord in the strings. The bulk of the movement is a dovetailed hypnotic ostinato in the strings with a gentle rocking motion, and the simple flute melody above. The third movement, Wild Dreams (Presto), should be exactly that, wild and raucous, with heavy aggressive accents as indicated.For additional notes, see p. 2 of the PDF.The Youtube link above (Watch) is a recording I made at home in 2020 with my computer playing the string parts. Published by azdi (A0.1029901). On the beaches of Tijuana August 2018 It is a sound work for chamber orchestral ensemble based on the traditional and anonymous Son Istmeño La Llorona. Developed under a minimalist aesthetic influenced by ambient and experimental music. It fuses the themes of the traditional son with melodic and rhythmic motifs of popular Mexican rock songs also inspired by this traditional rhythm: La muerte chiquita by Café Tacuba and Llorona by Caifanes. It is structured similar to the format of a rock song. Start with a long base note or drone. Introduction (intro) about a descending harmony in the key of La Menor. A melody as a verse and a different melody as choir. Both melodies are presented and performed by different instruments with variations and different combinations of accompaniment and instrumentation. Variations of the thematic patterns and the ¨intro¨. A rhythmic-melodic experiment towards the end on the same descending harmonic progression as the solo part in a rock song. It ends with a fading orchestral atmosphere (outro). All oriented towards a minimalist style setting focused on melodic lines and emotional expressiveness. For a chamber orchestra. Ideally a string septet consisting of: 2 violins. 2 violas. 2 cellos. 1 double bass. Breaths: 1 trombone. 1 trumpet. 1 transverse flute. 1 Picollo flute. 1 Clarinet. 1 Oboe. Percussion of a determined note. It can be a vibraphone. Xylophone (preferably) or marimba. If it is not possible to use this type of instrument, that part is played an octave up on a piano. The number of instruments can be increased for each of the parts if needed and be convenient for the chamber orchestra in question. The Tempo can vary between 95 and 115 bpm. The work is designed so that it can be performed mainly by youth and children's orchestras. Peter Maxwell Davies was thinking of individual and communal vulnerability when composing this piece, especially in relation to the problem of climate change and his home in the Orkney Islands, which is under threat from rising sea levels. However, this theme is not a completely negative one: Davies claims we must all enter the last door of light but the journey is full of light and joy. The melody at the start of the work, which Davies composed in the ‘70’s and never used, could be an Island folk melody and is subject to constant transformation throughout the piece before reaching apotheosis at the end.

As a market fair, comprising of traders, merchants and other vendors, it started sometime in the 14th century and used to take place until the 18th century. The melody is in Dorian mode and is very typical of the Middle English period.This straightforward but useful arrangement is for a String Group or Orchestra with an optional part for Piano or Harp. Violin 1 is split into two parts - Melody and a Descant line. Harmony parts for Violins 2 and 3. Viola Part is doubled on Violin 4.
