It is part of a secular collection, found on a manuscript that was used in Henry's court. The originality of the song has been questioned, with various parts of the song allegedly taken from similar pieces in Europe. The song itself is a courtship conversation in Middle French between a man and woman. These waltzes may be performed as a medley or separately. Three of the waltzes are very energetic, while the second waltz is best performed somewhat more slowly. Care has been made to include melodic phrases at times for all parts. 1st and 2nd parts alternate on most of the melody work, but 3rd and 4th also get chances to shine. The keys have been transposed to more appropriately fit the range of the flute. This would be an outstanding choice for a high school flute ensemble to perform at contest or recital work, and would brighten up a university or professional recital.

Dora PejaÄević, born in Budapest in 1885 and died in Munich in 1923, was a composer of the Croatian noble family.This is one of the fascinating collection of her works that allow for deep expression through the use of harmony that sometimes pushes the limits towards her later years, as is typical around the beginning of the 20th century (This early work is still quite simple).The arrangement for flute quartet was commissioned by the Japan Croatia Music Society and was completed in July 2021, and premiered in Tokyo on 6 August by the Flute Quartet Tsutsu-uraura. She also studied écriture musicale at the CNSM-Lyon. She studied under Profs. Alain Louvier, Bernard de Crepy and other representative professors in France in terms of composition and arrangement.She later completed the conducting biennio department at the Milano Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado, and in recent years has been the guest conductor at the Japan Croatia Music Society. She travels to various parts of Croatia to research music, visits music research institutes and composers, and strives for understanding.
