IntroduzioneLa trascrizione per quintetto di fiati di Recondita armonia, una delle arie più iconiche dell'opera Tosca di Giacomo Puccini, è concepita per mantenere l'intensità emotiva e la bellezza melodica dell'originale, adattandola a una formazione cameristica che possa esprimere al meglio le sfumature timbriche e dinamiche del brano.Struttura e AdattamentoLa trascrizione è stata realizzata per flauto, oboe, clarinetto, fagotto e corno. Ogni strumento svolge un ruolo specifico nel ricreare la ricchezza orchestrale dell'originale, pur rimanendo fedele alla scrittura vocale e orchestrale di Puccini.- Flauto: Il flauto è stato scelto per riprodurre le linee melodiche più alte e leggere, spesso simili a quelle del violino nella versione orchestrale. La sua brillantezza e agilità permettono di mantenere la chiarezza e la dolcezza della melodia principale.- Oboe: L'oboe, con il suo timbro caldo e penetrante, ricrea l'espressività e l'intensità della voce di Cavaradossi, catturando le sfumature emotive della melodia principale. Il risultato è un arrangiamento che rispetta la grandezza della musica di Puccini, permettendo a un ensemble da camera di esplorare e esprimere le sfumature di uno dei momenti più emozionanti di Tosca.

Anton (AntonÃn, Antoine) Joseph Reicha (Rejcha) (26 February 1770 – 28 May 1836) was a Czech-born, Bavarian-educated, later naturalized French composer and music theorist. A contemporary and lifelong friend of Beethoven, he is now best remembered for his substantial early contributions to the wind quintet literature and his role as teacher of pupils including Franz Liszt, Hector Berlioz and César Franck.Reicha's 25 wind quintets, composed in Paris between 1811 and 1820, were mostly premiered from 1817 in the foyer of the Théâtre Favart by some of the world's fifinest wind soloists. They were well received and were played al over Europe shortly afterward.Reicha claimed in his memoirs that his wind quintets filed a void:At that time, there was a dearth not only of good classic[al] music, but of any good music at al for wind instruments, simply because the composers knew little of their technique.[Wikipedia]Notes concerning this editionIn preparing this edition various manuscripts were consulted including the facimilies held by the IMSLP and Clarinet Institute. Un Flambeau, Jeanette, Isabelle! is a Provençal Christmas song from the 17th century. This song was first published in 1553 in France. The music is attributed to Nicolas Saboly and the text to Émile Blémont. The song tells the story of two farmers, Jeannette and Isabelle, who are going to milk their cows in a crib in Bethlehem, and find Jesus sleeping in hay. The two women run to Bethlehem to announce to the inhabitants the coming of Christ and the inhabitants come with their torches to see this for themselves. The painter Georges de La Tour painted a Nativity called The Newborn Inspired by the Song. Originally, the song was not a Christmas song but a dance song for the nobles. Little known in France today, it is most often interpreted by Anglo-Saxons on the occasion of the Christmas holidays, especially in the United States. The English version is entitled Bring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella!. Though the bridge is in the key of F major, the manner in which it abruptly sets in and exits makes it sound more out-of-the-way than it really is.
