Although it is typically performed in December, that was not the composer's intent. In A Most Remarkable Fella: Frank Loesser and the Guys and Dolls in His Life, his daughter Susan Loesser explains that the singer, madly in love, is making a (possibly rash) commitment far into the future. It always annoyed my father when the song was sung during the holidays. Bach's Partita No. 4 in D major, BWV 828, is an essential work for several reasons: It is part of Bach's Clavier-Übung I, a collection of keyboard suites that he published in the last 25 years of his life as a musical testament to convey his vision of music-making and composing. Unlike his earlier English and French suites, the Partitas in this collection are more severe, focusing on polyphonic structures that actively involve both the listener and performer. The Partita consists of seven movements, all in the key of D major, structured around Renaissance dance forms such as the allemande, courante, sarabande, minuet, and gigue. This instrumentation captures both the original medium for these dance sets as well as the Baroque style of Bach. Bach was well aware of his abilities as a composer, and he deliberately published these works with future generations in mind. The Partitas represent Bach's mature approach to keyboard composition, where he was less interested in dance rhythms and more focused on creating complex polyphonic structures. Many scholarly, and some frankly impenetrable, analyses have been written on the subject of Contrapunctus 7, all available on the internet somewhere (mainly if you can't sleep!). So I would simply say that the motif throughout is stretched, further elongated, scrunched up, placed on different beats, played upsidedown, sideways, shortened, further shortened, over the bar, under the bar, off to the bar(!), and so on, it shouldn't work!! But of course it really does, really! I've known this piece for many years, but it was not until I began unravelling it for this Clarinet version that I must again doff my cap to old J.S. and his enduring genius! Â

Good to play as well!! The Fugue The key of Bb Minor is a challenging mode for the Clarinet, coupled with the time signature of 3/2, this Fugue should prove interesting in rehearsal! The Prelude 1 Completely different from the Prelude that opens Book 1, which is mainly broken chords, this opening Prelude to Book 2 features a continuously flowing sequence of melodic ideas. According to Levison, few pieces of traditional music are more purely processive as this. It develops without a break or pause, without arrivals of significance, from beginning to end. Good to play as well!! The Fugue 22 The four voices are distributed throughout the parts, and at 101 bars, it is certainly one of Bach's longest, and definitely one of the most enjoyable to play, especially in a generous acoustic. Thanks, John. That's Amore is a 1953 song by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Jack Brooks. It became a major hit and signature song for Dean Martin the year it was released. Amore (pronounced [aˈmoËre]) means love in Italian. The song first appeared in the soundtrack of the Martin and Lewis comedy film The Caddy. Jerry Lewis commissioned Warren and Brooks to write songs for Martin to sing in the movie. According to Lewis, he personally paid them $30,000 secretly in the hope that one would be a hit for Martin.
