AGRADECIMIENTOSAntes de nada dar las gracias a la Unión Musical de Algimia por confiar en mi para componer una composición que conmemore el 30 aniversario.Al peu del Picayo está como casi todas mis composiciones inspiradas en hechos ya sea verÃdicos o ficticios. En este aspecto tengo que agradecer a Helios Borja Cortijo su gran contribución a mis conocimientos sobre la historia de Algimia. Mis composiciones nunca narran historias, se inspiran en ellas, en los sentimientos que de ellas extraemos, sentimos o transmitimos, Estas historias tan sólo nos facilitan la comprensión de la obra.ANÃLISISFormalmente la obra está compuesta en la forma sonata, con algunas licencias respecto a la que podrÃamos calificar –si es posible- Sonata Escolástica.INTRODUCCIÓN Inicio hasta compás 59.La introducción comienza con el acompañamiento de un clúster de cinco notas octatónicas. A partir del segundo compás va apareciendo –siempre de forma desfigurada- el tema principal de esta composición. Este no aparecerá claramente hasta el compás 62TEMA PRINCIPALCompás 60 hasta 101Alrededor de la tonalidad de LA se construye el tema principal que aparece en los graves de la banda, pasando a los agudos mientras los graves hacen un canon a la 4ª Justa.A nivel comprensivo y tan sólo como recomendación diré que la introducción y el tema principal corresponden históricamente a ALGIMIA MUDEJARTEMA SECUNDARIOCompás 102 a 136Esta parte inspirada en la ÉPOCA MORISCA de Algimia está formada por diferentes elementos siendo cuatro los más importantes.Al igual que la Introducción el tema segundario está iniciado por un Clúster, en éste caso el Clúster es cromático.El siguiente elemento en aparecer –Corno Inglés- es el propio nombre de Algimia en movimiento contrario, tomando el Abecedario como modelo y partiendo de la nota LALa inquisición está representada por las trompetas y los trombones.Estos elementos están acompañados de la simbologÃa mayormente personal del número once, representado por los cuartos y las once campanadas.En el compás 112 aparece el Elemento Cristiano de este Tema Secundario, este está en modo Dórico, también llamado Protus o Auténtico. I am very passionate about writing music for all instruments, and the world of percussion is hungry for new repertoire. Writing this piece taught me so much about composing for percussion in a way that makes sense to the performers. I’ve always been intimidated by percussion music, and forcing myself to write a piece I’m proud of for percussion has been a journey worth taking. The name comes from the zombies mode in Call of Duty: Cold War. When you “pack-a-punch†the Bullfrog (making it deal more damage) the name changes to “High Anxiety,†which this piece gives me. The harmonies in the marimba are based on an A fully diminished 7th chord, which is a chord with a lot of tension and no resolution.

Then this piece is for you.1. Guitar Arrangement2. Guitar Tab3. Less stereotypical chords 4. Fingerings and letter names added to aid in sight-reading 5. Voice leading considerationsThe Scale I used is: D Eb F# G A Bb D. The name of it would be something bizarre. These names include: Jewish, harmonic major, or a mode of G harmonic minor. If I included a C#, it would be a symmetrical scale that can't be retrograded, adding to the mathematical mystique. An exotic sounding atmosphere was what I was going for.Tips:1. Since it is exotic, microtonal pre-bends seem appropriate to make it even more exotic sounding. That is what the upwards pointing swoosh means. Perhaps the sound of a sitar was what I was going for.2. Slides also make it sound more exotic.3. Exotic music uses drone tones more often than American music. Therefor, droning a low D made sense.4. The naming of chords would be quite difficult since it is more of an alien music language than a western one. I just left them out this time. Names would happen such as Dadd4(b9)omit3. Pretty alien chords if you ask me, and you can see that the western chord nomenclature is struggling to name it elegantly. Anytime chords are build in 4th and 5ths rather than 3rds, usually the name that results is quite complex.5. I added unisons because it makes it sound more mysterious in my opinion.
