I was asked to play the famous ’Toccata’ from Widor’s 5th Organ Symphony for a bride as she came down the aisle. As the piece in its entirety was far too long I put together an abridged and somewhat simplified version for the occasion. The tricky middle section and hand-crossing have been omitted without sacrificing the spirit of the piece and the pedal part has also been reduced and simplified. The registration is left entirely to the organist’s discretion depending on the specification of the instrument.
