Trumpet Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017109 Composed by David Woodcock. Contemporary. Individual part. 7 pages. David Woodcock #6039239. Published by David Woodcock (A0.1017109). The title 'Echoes' can mean several things in this piece: it could refer to the musical ideas themselves, which often echo themselves; it could also mean the interaction between cornet and piano, which is often canonic; the music also evokes past eras, echoes of the past, with references to plainsong, 20th Century American music, and impressionism. At the end, the main musical idea dies away as in an echo. This work was a finalist for the 2018 SOUNZ Brass Composition Prize. This version is formatted for A4 paper size - see alternative title for a version for Letter paper size. The recording features Mason Elliot, Cornet, and the composer accompanying.

Brass Ensemble Horn - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.872483 Composed by G. F. Handel. Arranged by James K. Taylor. Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 17 pages. James K. Taylor #3407395. Published by James K. Taylor (A0.872483). I found that the Handel's Hallelujah Chorus made for an excellent echo song. I've never heard this and it is hard to imagine that it has never been performed in this manner. I have arranged it for horn quartet, although, two groups could paly it with one quartet playing all dynamics from mf through fff, and the other group (maybe off stage) playing everything from mp down to ppp/ At least give it a listen for a whole new way to perform the great composition.

Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8584-1E). English.Bells and Grass portrays five intimate scenes, in which small things come into focus and the world recedes: a nightingale’s song echoing from a nearby wall, the bright sun and the waves of the ocean, the moon lighting up a stream with its silvery halo, the flames burning over coals in a fireplace as twilight descends, and the varied and musical sounds of rainfall. The pairing of voice with oboe provides this little cycle with a uniquely colorful charm and immediacy. Duration: 11:00Includes an additional copy for Oboe player.Contents:Echo Gone Why? Coals Rain.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226321 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 48 pages. Jmsgu3 #822323. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1226321). Minimum instrumentation: 3 Brass Quartets - 6 trumpets in C (or cornets) 3 French Horns in F, and 3 trombones. InnovationsGabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style.Polychoral WorksGabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well.Spatial MusicAbove all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance.First WorksFinally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung.HomophonyHence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933341 Composed by Juan Carlos Guerra González. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Octavo. 8 pages. Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez #6612559. Published by Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez (A0.933341). Echoes II is a part of a set of five choral pieces I wrote in 2002 as part of my composition training with Dr. Joseph Karl Doetsch. The central idea of the piece was to use effects mainly used in audio production settings to be represented with vocal music. As you might find in the score, the work has no text, this is because I wrote it to be centered in the sound. Conductor might choose a vowel of preference to perform each section. The idea of the echo effect is created by repeating the note using different dynamics. The melody will be presented throughout the piece moving into different voices. You will notice sections in which the effect is toggled between on and off. Just like a real audio production machine.Unfortunately, the other 4 parts of the series were lost and this is the only one I found.

Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance,Traditional. 10 pages. Jmsgu3 #887184. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1297060). Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was a Dutch organist and composer who lived from April 1562 to October 16, 1621. He was born and died in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Sweelinck's first published works date from around 1592-94, and he composed various music, including chansons and keyboard music. He was known for his keyboard playing and was a teacher to German composers Samuel Scheidt and Heinrich Scheidemann. Sweelinck's Echo Fantasias are significant for several reasons:Innovative composition: Echo Fantasias were a unique form of composition during Sweelinck's time, blending elements of traditional fantasias with passages dedicated to echo effects. This experimental approach showcased Sweelinck's creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of musical expression. Emphasis on the moment: Unlike Sweelinck's larger fantasias, the construction of Echo Fantasias was less strict, focusing more on the immediate musical experience than the overall design. This emphasis on the moment allowed for greater freedom and spontaneity in the performance of these pieces. Stylistic range: Echo Fantasias encompassed various styles, juxtaposing fantasia-like elements with passages dedicated to echo effects. This stylistic diversity added depth and complexity to Sweelinck's compositions, making them engaging and intriguing for both performers and listeners.
