Small Ensemble Alto Recorder,Cello,Keyboard,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.744501 By Arcady. By Ronald Beckett. 20th Century,Baroque. Score and parts. 16 pages. Ronald Beckett #352566. Published by Ronald Beckett (A0.744501). Fantasia was commissioned for the Bach tercentenary year. It is a completion of Bach’s original Fantasia in C major for organ which contains only a few bars. It was originally completed for organ and then turned into this present form as the work has the definite feel of a trio sonata. It is featured in this form on the 2002 Arcady CD A Beckett Miscellany. The instrumentation, as with Baroque chamber music, is flexible. A version of Fantasia also has been made for three instruments. If any of these alternate versions is preferred, please contact the composer through www.ronaldbeckettmusic.com and it will be put on this site.

Hans Werner Henze has composed several film scores for Volker Schlondorff's literary adaptations. 'In 1966 I wrote the music of Volker Schlondorff's first film Der junge Torless. I then thought the sound of the old early instruments that I chose could be understood as a metaphor for the early immature, almost childishly youthful and endangered of the protagonists of Musil's novella. Later I arranged several pieces from the score for string sextet and even made a string orchestra version of it.' (Hans Werner Henze).

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1297060 Composed by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance,Traditional. 10 pages. Jmsgu3 #887184. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1297060). Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was a Dutch organist and composer who lived from April 1562 to October 16, 1621. He was born and died in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Sweelinck's first published works date from around 1592-94, and he composed various music, including chansons and keyboard music. He was known for his keyboard playing and was a teacher to German composers Samuel Scheidt and Heinrich Scheidemann. Sweelinck's Echo Fantasias are significant for several reasons:Innovative composition: Echo Fantasias were a unique form of composition during Sweelinck's time, blending elements of traditional fantasias with passages dedicated to echo effects. This experimental approach showcased Sweelinck's creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of musical expression. Emphasis on the moment: Unlike Sweelinck's larger fantasias, the construction of Echo Fantasias was less strict, focusing more on the immediate musical experience than the overall design. This emphasis on the moment allowed for greater freedom and spontaneity in the performance of these pieces. Stylistic range: Echo Fantasias encompassed various styles, juxtaposing fantasia-like elements with passages dedicated to echo effects. This stylistic diversity added depth and complexity to Sweelinck's compositions, making them engaging and intriguing for both performers and listeners.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1296514 Composed by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance,Traditional. 21 pages. Jmsgu3 #886692. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1296514).
