This quick and easy national anthem arrangement is essential for traveling musicians,bands, instrumental groups and both amateur and professional ensembles. You can play it with any virtually any combination of instruments: symphonic band,clarinet choir, brass ensemble, brass band, solos, duets and trios - almost anything!This arrangement is in five independent parts each transposed into a variety of keys. In a rough accounting of Sousa’s body of work, marches make up only the second most numerous of his efforts – some 135 march compositions versus over 320 arrangements and transcriptions for Band. Outside of his marches, most of the Sousa catalog, including his humoresques, remains unpublished and largely unheard today. By way of an old Sousa concert program, we learn the narrative of his humoresque Among My Souvenirs. In it, the Nichols song Among My Souvenirs is lengthened into a sketch. Among his souvenirs is a photograph, letters and a broken heart. As he meditates, he goes back to a time before he was broken-hearted and remembers when he and his beloved were softly singing Twinkling Stars are Laughing, Love. Next, his mind reverts to the time when he was Seeing Her Home, recalling the songs of years gone by at Aunt Dinah’s Quilting Party – he was Seeing Nellie Home. After this, he travels to the Far East, and visions of The Road to Mandalay come to him. From there, he meditates on the Sweet Mysteries of Life and, finally, arrives at the closing picture in which he is once more Among my Souvenirs.

Alford was a pioneering arranger whose business cataloged some 34,000 custom arrangements until his death in 1939. At the time it was said that This man Alford can slip unobserved into almost any theater in America, and be sure that somewhere in the musical part of the program he is going to hear several of his arrangements. Some of his most famous band marches include Glory of the Gridiron and Purple Carnival.

Published by Freedom Band Press (A0.987647). The San Fran Pan American March was written in 1913 to celebrate and promote San Francisco’s winning bid to host the 1915 world’s fair. The City was selected in 1911 over chief rival New Orleans by proclamation of President William Howard Taft. On December 12, 1913 the Victor Band recorded the march for the recording company of the same name. Corin was 26 years old when he penned this march and had already established himself as a concert pianist and composer with several musicals and orchestra recordings to his credit.

Bella Ciao (Goodbye Beautiful) is an Italian protest folk song from the late 19th century, originally sung by the seasonal female rice paddy workers in Northern Italy in protest to the harsh working conditions. The song was modified and adopted as an anthem of the Italian resistance movement by the partisans who opposed the Nazi occupiers between 1943 and 1945. Versions of Bella Ciao continue to be sung worldwide as hymns of freedom and resistance. Written during the Covid -19 Pandemic, Variations on “Bella Ciao’ was inspired by the scenes of music- making by Italian musicians during the darkest days of the pandemic. From rooftops, balconies and deserted piazzas, people continued to express themselves in testaments to the human spirit. Published by Scott Custer Jr (A0.1153691). My first complete concert band piece. It's been in the works for about 3 months. The early drafts of this piece were written in April/May and were then left to collect dust for months. I wrote it to experiment with melodic/harmonic minor scales and did not intend to finish the piece. Around the same time I wrote the early drafts of the piece, my high school band director asked if I wanted to write a piece for the concert band. I agreed and spent months working on different pieces of music, completing none of them. Around late October I stumbled across this looking through old pieces of music for some new ideas. I listened through it 3 or 4 times and decided to continue the piece. After spending roughly two months finishing the draft, and another month revising and adding parts, I had finally finished Trapped. When I started working on this piece with the intention of finishing it, I was at a difficult point in my life. I had recently come home from my rookie season of drum corps and was still transitioning back to the real world. The freedom of tour had been taken away from me, I had mentally matured a lot during the summer. While only 17 I felt like I was stuck with a bunch of kids. I had spent all summer with friends much older than me, learning a lot from them and taking inspiration from them in many ways. When I started this piece, I was conflicted with many thoughts and emotions. I was still under the impression that my peers in the music program hated me because of some of my actions last year. The girl from home I had been talking with all summer while I was gone, and hoped to start a relationship with, lied to me while I was gone about many things, causing me to remove them from my life. The last year and a half have involved many events like losing my best friend of 5 years because of, what I consider, an overreaction on my part; being used for my kindness; lied to; having secrets about me revealed behind my back by those I trusted; being a therapy friend; constant overthinking; as well as toxic friendships I didn’t want to leave because I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I felt trapped. I had spent so long trying to improve myself to become who I am today, and I still felt like crap. Even though I knew and promised myself I wouldn’t follow through, I was battling suicidal thoughts and I was in a severely depressive episode of my life. I wrote this piece to express the feeling of overthinking, being trapped in your mind, and the road to recovery. The constant back-and-forth battles with yourself, unsure of where to go and what to do next; feeling trapped. I hope that this piece connects and resonates with those of you in a similar position to what I was in, and I promise there is a way out and that life does get better. And with that, I present to you, Trapped.

Twenty years ago, an evil terrorist act was committed. The twin Towers in New York were destroyed by planes. The Pentagon was attacked. A fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania. Feelings of shock, grief, horror, confusion, and anger followed in the wake of this senseless destruction. Fire fighters, police, and members of our Armed Services stepped up with great resolve to act as heroes in response to the attacks. Section A begins with the hum of airplanes followed by the for attacks. Section B expresses the various emotions people felt that day. After this section vents a feeling of national rage, it changes to a feeling of militaristic resolve as our troops go off to fight those responsible for the attacks. Section C borrows an American tune from the Civil War and WW1. Every heart is in the fight for the cause of truth and right, And the freedom of our own beloved land. Many people may know it as Jesus loves the little children. The parts not marked in red are meant to be sung in unison. In measure 45, the flutes and oboes play a decant over the melody. Three measures from the end, the band lands on a deceptive cadence followed by the rest of the measures going to the tonic.
