This arrangement adapted for cor anglais e piano was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change of key, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as for use in ensemble practice between musicians of different traditions. Ludwig van Beethoven began concentrated work on his Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92 in 1811, it was completed in 1812, and was dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, and premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813. It is considered a remarkable example of the more ebullient side of Beethoven's compositional personality and evidence that even after the onset of deafness, he still found cause for musical optimism. The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. Often several contrasting melodic ideas are made to coexist, as if Beethoven were imagining several processions converging on the cemetery at the same time. As he was working on this symphony during the years of the Napoleonic Wars, this experience was probably within his experience. It was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, by director Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, where it is used in the final scene of the film. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his most excellent symphony, and a music critic of the time reported, this symphony is the most melodically rich and the most pleasing and comprehensible of all Beethoven's symphonies..

It's A Sin is taken from Pet Shop Boys' second studio album, 'Actually', released in June 1987 as the lead single. It became their second number-one in the UK, spending three weeks at the top. Additionally, the single topped the charts in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, reaching number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100. In the song, Tennant describes some impressions he took from his time at a Catholic high school in Newcastle upon Tyne. He ended up feeling that everything he had done or was going to do was a sin. Directed by Derek Jarman, the It's A Sin video marked the director's first of several collaborations with the band; it extended the lyrical themes of the song by showing Tennant under arrest by an inquisition with Lowe as his jailer and Ron Moody ('Fagin' in the musical, 'Oliver!') in the role of his judge, interspersed with brief clips of personifications of the seven deadly sins. This arrangement for brass band opens with the fanfare used in the orchestral Overture to the Pet Shop Boys' 'Performance' tour, segueing into the song and featuring, in the middle, a half-time feel, riffing off Tennant's own suggestion that It's A Sin, at its heart, is a heavy metal record. Published by Nicholas Fife (A0.982407). While attending the University of South Carolina the horn choir performed Robert Pruzin’s arrangement of selections from Mahler’s third symphony. All of the horn students loved it, and we performed it at the Southeast Horn Workshop at Western Carolina University in 2009. When Mr. Pruzin died; the arrangement was lost, so I reproduced his arrangement. After studying the original score I was able to identify the portions of the piece that Mr. Pruzin used. Mr. Pruzin taught at the UofSC for 35 years, mentoring and inspiring countless young music students. He was the principal horn of the SC Philharmonic and the Augusta Symphony. He was also an artist in residence at the SC Governor’s School for the Arts. Mr. Pruzin always had a deep admiration for Mozart, so he started a program called Bring Mozart Alive!. He would dress as a court musician from the time of Mozart and performed for thousands of elementary school students. I have wonderful memories from my time at the UofSC, and that includes performing this arrangement. It is my hope that this arrangement continues to be enjoyed by horn students for many years to come. Thank you for everything, Mr. Pruzin. Gustav Mahler finished writing his third symphony in 1896. It is his longest composition. Performance times usually range from 95 to 110 minutes. This arrangement contains portions of the first and final movements of the work.
