This arrangement for flute quartet (Flute 1, Flute 2, Flute 3, Flute 4 or Alto Flute) reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

The Polovtsian Dances, or Polovetsian Dances form an exotic scene at the end of act 2 of Alexander Borodin's opera Prince Igor. The work remained unfinished when the composer died in 1887, although he had worked on it for more than a decade. A performing version was prepared by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov.

Die Moritat vom Mackie Messer, more commonly known as Mack the Knife, is a song by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht from their play The Threepenny Opera, which was first performed in Berlin in 1928. This song was hastily written before opening night for the lead actor, who complained that his character didn't have a good introduction. Mack the Knife quickly became a jazz standard, and has now been covered countless times by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Robbie Williams, Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald.
This arrangement is for standard clarinet quartet of 3 Bb clarinets and 1 bass clarinet. The PDF download contains a full score and all four parts.

Originally composed for organ, this work lends itself well to winds and provides an opportunity for wind players to experience and enjoy some of Pachelbel's other music besides his Canon in D. In a secular setting, this work is an excellent introduction into Pachelbel’s organ works which were well-known by Johann Sebastian Bach and likely influenced his own compositions to some degree. In verse 2, clarinet 3 presents the tune in a lower register while the bass (or 4th) clarinet plays a Baroque style ‘walking bass’. The first and second clarinets weave countermelodies above them, introducing new material for a Pachelbel-like interlude of an ascending sequence - bringing the music to a climax before subsiding into verse 3. Here a slightly ornamented version of the tune returns with the new material continuing in the bass line. After another smaller climax we return to the original Holst as the work ends quietly and thoughtfully.

This quartet is the second piece in the first of three sets of ‘Tafelmusik’ published in Hamburg by Telemann in 1763. The numbers of players required ranged from a single treble instrument with continuo (cello & harpsichord) to pairs of trumpets, horns and violins with string orchestra with continuo which provided the entertainment for the guests at the most important feasts.The quartet was originally written for flute, oboe, violin and continuo and has been arranged for flute, oboe, clarinet & bassoon. Some additional phrasings and dynamics have been added in parentheses ( ) or dashed lines and passages of music have been redistributed among the parts with some octave transposition to accommodate the range of the wind instruments.There are three movements: Largo - Allegro - Largo, Vivace - Moderato - Vivace & Grave - Vivace. The quartet is suitable for advanced intermediate players and above.The short Grave introduction to the final Vivace would have afforded the three treble instrument players a bar/measure each to perform a short improvised cadenza before the infectious romp of the final Vivace. (Rather like the present day introductions of the athletes before important competitions - the difference being that the 18th century musicians had already demonstrated their prowess.Telemann clearly had very talented musicians available and provided them with music which was enjoyable to play for an appreciative audience of patrons to enjoy.
