WABI-SABI is written for beginning string players in 3 part harmony with viola doubling 2nd violin and cello doubling string bass. In the event instrumentation is lacking this type of scoring will make your group sound fuller and give your players more confidence. Includes full score and parts for Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, String Bass, 2 Flutes and triangle. It is scored with parts for two flutes but could be played with only the 1st flute if necessary. The traditional aesthetic sensibility of the Japanese could be summed up as Wabi-Sabi and their acceptance of transience and imperfection. In short, nothing lasts and nothing is perfect. Even 6 parts of mandolin ensemble is able to make more effective sounds with this score than the original. Parts of wind instruments and percussion can be omitted. It was first performed by Keio University at 100th anniversary in2010.
