Debussy criticised Satie's music for lack of form--there is a story that Satie showed these pieces to Debussy who asked, ‘Why such a title?’ He replied Because you cannot criticize my Three Pieces in the shape of a Pear. If they are in the form of a pear they cannot be shapeless. Poire had the slang meanings of fool and spinning top--Satie is famous for playing the fool --he said Take my ... Pierre-Claude-François BOUILLON (18??-1883) was the principal conductor of the Cirque Fernando, the famous circus of the Belle Époque who inspired many impressionist artists, such as Renoir, Degas, Toulouse-Latrec and Georges Seurrat, whose masterpiece “Le Cirque†was inspired by this Circus. Bouillon was a very prolific compposer, writing many works for solo instrument and piano, marches, galops, waltzs, polkas and other dances. These works were intended to illustrate the various numbers presented during performances..Papillon is a theme and variations which begins with a lyrical introduction. The main theme (letter C) is in the form of a popular French romance. After two variations, there is another lyrical episode which leas to the final polka. Pierre-Claude-François BOUILLON (18??-1883) était le chef d’orchestre du célèbre cirque Fernando, un cirque qui pendant la Belle Époque inspira des artistes tels que Renoir, Degas, Toulouse-Latrec et Georges Seurrat, qui peigne “Le Cirque†d’après une représentation du ce cirque. Bouillon est un compositeur très prolifique, écrivant des œuvres pour instrument solo et orchestre, des marches, des galops, valses,polkas et d’autres morceaux de danse. Ces œuvre avaient pour vocation d’illustrer des divers numéros du cirque. Papillon est un air varié qui commence par une introduction lyrique. La thème principale (lettre C) est en forme de romance populaire. Après deux variations, il y a une seconde épisode lyrique qui amène la polka finale.

SIX PIECES OF JOY AND MELANCHOLY is a collection of short pieces with a more melodic and in some cases rhythmic character. The pieces were composed individually for different occasions, but they work together somehow and offer the performer and the audience a roller-coaster sensation through the constant change of mood. Danceuphoria is the opening piece, an uneven, powerful dance which immediately creates an uplifting mood. Melodic Sorrow is a piece dedicated to the memory of my father, Konstantinos Nousis. It's one of the first pieces I wrote for guitar as a teenager. Here you can read an evolved version of that first piece which keeps the simplicity of the primary inspiration.Lifeness is an ode to life piece full of rich colors, melodies and harmonies. Meditation, originally written as the theme music for a Reiki Yoga YouTube channel, is a very slow and meditative piece with short melodic legato lines. Hope evokes warmer feelings. A simplistic piece based on natural harmonies that calms and soothes us.Finally, Cascading Waltz was chosen as the final piece, because it can be freely interpreted by any performer and gives the opportunity for diverse crescendos and accelerandos.The pieces can complement the repertoire of young students as well as professional guitarists who seek a modern yet melodic approach to the guitar.SIX PIECES OF JOY AND MELANCHOLY est une collection de courtes pièces au caractère plus mélodique et, dans certains cas, rythmique. Les pièces ont été composées individuellement pour des occasions différentes, mais elles fonctionnent ensemble d'une certaine manière et offrent à l'interprète et au public une sensation de montagnes russes grâce au changement constant d'humeur. Danceuphoria est la pièce d'ouverture, une danse inégale et puissante qui crée immédiatement une atmosphère exaltante. Melodic Sorrow est une pièce dédiée à la mémoire de mon père, Konstantinos Nousis. C'est l'une des premières pièces que j'ai écrites pour la guitare lorsque j'étais adolescent.
