In the key of D (major,) a simple and well known melody. Note: Although I do consider this a simple little song, any thought that this is an unusually easy guitar arrangement would be a mistake. This is, in fact, a rather challenging arrangement, especially the way I have tabbed it. Measures 6 - 9 are particularly difficult. If you can find an easier way to finger it, more power to you. Some contradictory information has been found regarding the attribution of the opus. Some have suggested it was from Martin Luther (himself,) but others have said it was written for his 400th anniversary. But the hymn book I found it in (to copy the lyrics) attributes it to a James R. Murray, so I have also given him credit. It was first published in 1884, in any event.

The meaning behind the track focuses on the pressures of being true to oneself and living up to expectations, especially in the ongoing age of social media.The verses describe a hypocrisy and controlling, manipulative struggle with the singer's physicality and mental state. The quotes tell her to act a certain way or mold into a specific shape, but also mention to not go too far in either category. Not having a clear direction and attempting to please others makes the singer feel like they're losing their mind.Lauren Mayberry, the lead vocalist, said The barebones of thesong were there in about an hour and the opening line of thesong was the first lyric that came out.The song released with a music video following Mayberry trapped inside a transparent revolving door with no way ofescaping. She's seen bashing against the glass attempting to break out with shots of her spinning around.Martin Doherty, the synthesist and producer of the band, said The chords felt like they had this eternal tension in them—they never actually release, even though they get really big. Itfeels to me like a panic attack.The lyrics enhance this tense suffocation with Mayberry's build up in the pre chorus followed by her highest range in the chorus. She switches between a false voice/autotune into her natural voice after breaking free from the silence. Almost as if her falsified persona is begging for release but no one responds to her cry for help.

It begins dulci (quietly) gradually building to the final stanza in which the Tenors and Basses sing the melody while the Sopranos and Altos accompany them with an angelic chorus that can be sung in either 3 or 4-part harmony. The text is the original macaronic text alternating between Latin and German phrases. Translations of the Latin phrases are found on the final page. A separate piano part is provided. Published by Jesus Martinez Music (A0.1030742). PROGRAM NOTES: The Spear of Destiny is titled and inspired by the supposed spear that was used to kill Jesus Christ. The spear is said to have extraordinary powers. He who possesses it will rule the world and he who loses it thereafter will die an untimely death. The last person recorded to have had it was Adolf Hitler. This musical composition journeys through the time of Hitler and his obsession to obtain the spear, his atrocious acts during his tenure of the spear, and the loss of the spear. The spears main thematic motions are the glissandos in the violin that represent the spears anger and tortuous ways. I. Spear Found takes place during his times as an understudy of Dietrich Eckart, a dedicated satanist and figure in the Occult Thule Society and founding member of the Nazi party. Dietrich said: Follow Hitler! He will dance, but it is I who have called the tune! I have initiated him into the Secret Doctrine' opened his centres in vision and given him the means to communicate with the Powers. Do not morn for me; I shall have influenced history more than any other German. Hitler became enamored with the Spear of Destiny, which claimed it called to him. Spear Found, is Hitler's journey to capturing the spear to rule the world. II. Spear Possessed begins with no time meter or key signature. It is ad liberty of the performers and is a musical representation of the spears possessive powers towards evil. This movement takes place during the time of the Holocaust and the actions committed during Hitler's reign of world domination. The movement infers a jewish folk song titled, Dayeinu, a jewish Passover song meaning it would have been enough. This song is set in context of freedom. The movement goes through variations of Dayeinu and the spears version of a possessed Dayeinu. The violin has fast and rapid rhythms with small thematic material of the folk tune. At the end of the movement, the piano strikes the low end of the piano with a soft yarn mallet to symbolize the bombs dropping and the start of World War II. III. Spear Lost takes place during WWII and the Marines efforts to take down Hitler's reign. During the 3rd movement, the Marine Corps music comes to life as they take control of the spear and ultimately end the war. The Spear however, takes its last stand as the spears motif soars over the possessed marine tune. At the end of the movement, the spear is once again screeching as it survives and goes missing once again.

It is the title track from his 1978 album, and Manilow wrote the music and co-produced the track with Ron Dante. First recorded by Judy Collins, it appeared on the US singles chart during the fall of 1968. The next year it was included on Mitchell's album Clouds, and became one of her best-known songs. It has since been recorded by dozens of artists, including Dion in 1968, Clannad with Paul Young in 1991, and Mitchell herself who re-recorded the song with an orchestral arrangement on her 2000 album Both Sides Now.Mitchell has said that Both Sides, Now was inspired by a passage in Henderson the Rain King, a 1959 novel by Saul Bellow.I was reading ... Henderson the Rain King on a plane and early in the book Henderson ... is also up in a plane. He's on his way to Africa and he looks down and sees these clouds. I put down the book, looked out the window and saw clouds too, and I immediately started writing the song. I had no idea that the song would become as popular as it did.Pat Martino recorded a short version of the tune on his 1975 album Consciousness. I was talking to him about the tune and said I seemed to have remebered a longer version. He said, yeah, there might be one somewhere. I think he was just messing with me and wanted me to look for it. I found it as one of the solo performances from his VHS, Creative Force. As what definately feels like a gift to me, Pat included all the bits and pieces of this extended composition in his True Fire course. I managed to put the pieces together and here is Both Sides Now/Inside synced to the recording.

Fabio Dentello #752360. Published by Fabio Dentello (A0.1152147). Being one of his most elegant piano sonatas, the sonata in E minor (Hob. XVI: 34) can give us various feelings during its movements. It has a beautiful Adagio and a slight Molto Vivace as a Finale in Rondo form. This piece as said was thought of as a solo Piano Sonata, but the moment I heard it for the first time (on 12/18/2022, and yes, it was precisely on that day, because, I made the decision to start orchestrating it on the next day, the 19th) the idea of orchestrating it came to me because at least for me, it could sound like a beautiful symphony, even if it is very brief. I was extremely satisfied with the results, unfortunately with certain limitations of the VST I use (BBCSO pro) certain excerpts sound a little unrealistic, however, I have great esteem with the result. This orchestration/arrangement can be compared almost faithfully with the original, of course with several additions of voices and certain modifications to adapt it to the context of the orchestra, I tried to be as faithful as possible with Haydn's orchestral language, I am a great admirer of his vast work, and as I am also a classical/romantic composer, I learned a lot from him. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I enjoyed composing it!!

The weather was magnificent in May. Our friends Seph and Roger met us there. Being long-time veterans of Paris, they took us all over the city: Le Marais, the Left Bank, Montmartre, Sacré Coeur, Père LaChaise cemetery, Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des Tuileries, Notre Dame cathedral, Eiffel Tower, the flea market at Porte de Clignancourt, the canal at Saint Martin, etc. Since the weather was so great we basically stayed outside the entire two weeks. My wife Kris said that we had to return next again to Paris to go inside the museums. So we did. The weather in Paris after Christmas was very damp and chilly. So we did indoor activities: Le Louvre, Musée D’Orsay, Palais Garnier, etc. We even attended a beautiful performance of Swan Lake by the Paris Opera Ballet at L’Opéra Bastille. I should also mention that on both occasions I met up with a former student of mine from Berklee, Joe Makholm. He makes a living in Paris playing jazz piano. Joe got us a gig at the Swan Bar in Montparnasse. On the first occasion we did it as a trio with a French bass player. I played flute. On the second occasion, we did it as a duo. Playing jazz in Paris? You can’t beat that!!! Early this year, Steven Lipsitt and I had a chat about my writing a new work for the Boston Classical Orchestra. My last work for the BCO was a piano concerto with Robert Levin as soloist. I told Steven that this time I wanted to write a symphony. He said, Sure. Go ahead. I told him it would be about Paris. He said he would put Mozart’s Paris Symphony on the same program. I said, Fabulous! Symphony No. 8 … City of Light (2011) is in five movements. 1. La Seine Presto, Moderato 2.
