In the first of the movements, Fibonacci's series is present in the notes' sequence that forms the series of 16 sounds and it is going to be present throughout the whole work. This series is taking form along the movement and it is getting melody and harmony.Although it is far away from the sonata form, as we know it in its period of highest glory, it takes elements of it and updates to our days. In this movement, we can find sonata form elements as the exposition, development, transitions or coda.The central part of the first movement becomes in the slow movement, being more intimate and lyrical, free of the serials ties although it uses resources before cited -now called common practice-.The movement finish with a short re-exposition that concludes with the virtuosic of the soloist doubling the series and adding more tension until conforming the series in its full whole.II. Weak ForcesIt is the most tribal of both movements. Its structure is more complex and in it, we also can find clear reminiscences to the sonata form.We can divide the movement into two big blocks. The first one is formed for the introduction and sections one and two.IntroducciónIt is based in one ostinato of three notes where the accent is changing provoking unsymmetric, this ostinato represents the nucleus of our existence. The piccolo and the trombone introduce us to the human element representing the two elements that form the development of the whole movement.The two elements of thematics are taken from the series, the first one is easily recognizable because it appears in his primary form.First section & cadenzaIn this movement, the rhythm, the melody, and the harmony are based on the sequence of Fibonacci. A tribute to the hugely popular and perennial holiday favourite The Nutcracker, this arrangement of The Waltz of the Flowers for string trio (vln/vla/vc) comes with optional 2nd violin to replace the viola part. Slightly abridged to last a comfortable 5 minutes, this would make a great opener or encore for a Christmas concert. Written with interest in all three parts, and taking turns with melody and accompaniment, this is a very enjoyable arrangement for most ensembles of intermediate/advanced ability. If you have a great viola player s/he will love this! Entre Nous was originally premiered in Omaha, Nebraska with the University of Nebraska Chamber Orchestra. Soon, Entre Nous made it's way to places such as Florida, Texas, and most recently, Iowa, where this newest revision was premiered. Entre Nous has faired well in competition and recital and is sure to be a great addition the repertoire of any chamber orchestra.Entre Nous (between me and thee) is a conversation between a man and his God. It is a single movement, ternary composition, mirroring the Holy Trinity. Beginning in a solemn g minor, it quickly moves forward with an endless flow of eighth note counterpoint, emerging enchantingly into the flowing melancholy melody of the B section. The second A surfaces in a minor with a sudden new energy and direction, slipping into a deeply contemplative, ethereally enchanting ending.Entre Nous is also a very unique and interesting piece, perhaps the reason for its popularity. Structurally, it turns upside-down a number of times, each line becoming the melody at some point. A very linear piece, melodic interweaving and predominance give Entre Nous a characteristic that can be best described as enchanting. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 29, the piece focuses upon the following text: Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. While the piece begins with an Aeolian mode melody, as played by the cello, the music quickly shifts to the major key at measure nine bringing with it a sense of optimism. A return to the inspiration of the opening lines of the psalm, at measure seventeen, introduces an additional melody. Enhanced through warm rich harmonies we now hear the fullness of the entire ensemble. A change in mood felt at measure thirty conveys reverence, as the music suddenly softens and beckons us to... Worship the Lord in beauty of holiness. The melody first introduced in measure nine, along with its optimism, reappears at measure thirty seven and then returns to the opening melody at measure forty three, now played in a lush string harmony. The same shift in mood felt at measure thirty appears in measure sixty three though a subtle change to the music is made; a shift to the minor key is used instead of a major key adding a sense of drama to the music. At measure sixty-nine a reprise of the opening melody leads to the glorious ending of hope and peace as the psalmist intended. The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace

Published by William Heath (A0.1142148). A Piano Trio, written for the Leeds University Union Music Society Winter Concert Series. Performed by the Hughes Trio featuring Christopher Hughes (Piano), Amy Howe (Violin), and Nikki Kemp (Cello) Programme Notes: This is a rather melodramatic piece that follows the Five Stages of Grief. I first sketched the piece for string quartet after an absolutely horrific interview at the Royal Northern College of Music. Feeling disheartened and dejected, I got home and messily scribbled on some manuscript paper An Elegy for Hopes and Dreams, and started writing this extremely over-dramatic and self-indulgent piece. I had abandoned this piece for an entire year before reviving it and writing the whole piece in just over a week and a half, now reimagined for Piano Trio. The piece starts with an atonal representation of grief before quickly moving into an upbeat Denial section which features a sort of fragile and manic sense of repression as a theme that initially sounds upbeat quickly unravels with whole-tone scales and chromatic movement. A representation of Anger is then seen with the whole trio playing the same melody with a jarring Bb in the harmony. The denial and anger sections repeat and regress before abruptly moving to a Bargaining section in which the original theme, ominously played in the lower piano and cello registers, is juxtaposed with a conjunct, major variation of the same theme in the violin. The Depression section takes the form of a cello solo as I find it to be one of the most emotive and expressive instruments and I take inspiration from Elgar's Cello Concerto, which I angstily listened to on the flight home from my aforementioned interview. A lilting and lamenting cello solo is contrasted with an atonal, aimless piano accompaniment which reflects the topic of depression. The bargaining theme reprises slightly with both strings performing the major variation before leading to the final climax. The Acceptance section sees the principal theme finally fully resolved in a major mode and with diatonic harmony. This is an expressive section as the whole trio plays the same melody with very simple yet emotive harmonic accompaniment underneath. Here the depression theme pairs with the principal theme coming to a final resolution. For individual parts for performance please contact owhcomposer@gmail.com.
