The composer was inspired to write the work after hearing a brass band perform and was excited to write some fanfares himself. The work is dedicated To the Czechoslovak Army. Cory Mixdorf arranged this exciting music to the first movement fanfare for 8-part Trombone Ensemble and Timpani. For advanced performers.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810819). Tchaikovsky composed Souvenir d'un lieu cher Op. 42 in 1878 for Violin and Piano. Mélodie is the third of three movements of this lovely work. Later, in 1884 the movements were published separately and eventually Glazunov arranged the three movements for Violin and orchestra. The music is poetic, expressive, joyous and refreshing with a wink or two. Professor Mixdorf has beautifully arranged this 3-minute work for advanced performers.

Giacomo Puccini composed Crisantemi (Chrysanthemums) for string quartet in one overnight sitting in January of 1890 after hearing of the unexpected death of his close friend Amadeo di Savoia, the former King of Spain. This poignant 6-minute elegy, an early work, soon afterwards shows up in Puccini's first great opera, Manon Lescaut. The white chrysanthemum is traditionally brought to the cemetery to mourn loved ones in Italy and other European countries.Appropriate for moderately advanced performers and beautifully scored by Cory Mixdorf for brass quintet of 2 Trumpets in B-flat, Horn, Trombone and Tuba.
