Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4308 Composed by Giorgio Mirto. Score. 24 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4308. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4308). Following a recent experience on the jury of a guitar competition, I noted with great pleasure that Giorgio Mirto, with whom I had shared the role of juror, wanted to celebrate the experience of the competition - during from which we discovered that we had had a great affinity of thought - with something which could endure over time and not evaporate as often happens in short and occasional meetings between musicians. He did it as a true composer, which he is, and dedicated to me a very beautifully crafted Suite to which I allowed myself to collaborate at least formally, by suggesting titles for the four movements. This is how Suite n.1 was born, a piece that does not strictly respect the formal rules of the Baroque era, but reinterprets and reuses them in a new key. The work's obvious late Baroque inspiration led me to find titles that invited the performer to delve deeper into the work's aesthetic inspiration. So I suggested to Giorgio that he title the four movements with something that linked their content to four greats of the 18th century. German masters. The prelude has thus become from Eisenach because of its sometimes improvised Bach-like atmosphere, the second movement, vaguely toccata, speaks an organ language in the manner of Buxtehude (who lived in Lübeck), the slow movement has a Handelian quality - and Handel was born in Halle - and the last movement, far from being a true Chaconne, undoubtedly has the latter's taste for variation and ostinato, typical traits of Telemann who lived in Magdeburg. The cities that appear in the titles are therefore indelible to the authors cited. Furthermore, one should not think that the style of the work is in any way German, given that Giorgio Mirto expresses himself in a very joyful language that synthesizes modality with minimalism, all seasoned with a a nod to Pink's progressive rock Floyd. or a Mike Oldfield... The result of this mixture of ideas, inspirations and styles is a work that personally I never tire of reading and rereading, for the freshness that emanates from it and for the climate expressive which rises, nourishing itself with full efficiency. We ultimately cannot ignore that the note B, the one which marks in a minor way some of the most expressive works of the guitar repertoire, from the study of Sor which made generations of students fall in love with the guitar, until to that of Frank Martin's Four Pieces via La Catedral di Barrios, is the modal fulcrum of the entire Suite: it is true that the Prelude begins with a clear chord in E minor and lingers on an open ending in A minor , but it almost seems that the initial E serves as a launching pad for a continuation of the work in which the dominant, that is to say the B, is the true musical North, the pole star which guides us in the other three movements until the end of the Chaconne de Magdebourg. I wish Giorgio and our Suite great longevity and a favorable destiny in the complex and complex world of contemporary guitar composition.

Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4244 Composed by Konstantin Bliokh. Score. 13 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4244. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4244). Sonata No. 6 Kharkiv for guitar solo was composed in 2021, in the end of the COVID-19 lockdown. At that time my family and I were staying in our home city of Kharkiv (also known as Kharkov), Ukraine for almost two years. We considered that pandemic period as a disaster, but later have realized that it actually was a rather happy time, because a war came to our homeland just a few months later. Since 2022 a considerable fraction of the 1.5 millions of Kharkiv citizens have left their homes, those who stayed have been living under ceaseless missile attacks, and many have been killed. I would like to dedicate this Sonata to the frontier city of Kharkiv and, most of all, to its citizens suffering from the war.Yet, the music of the Sonata does not have any specific program. Here I will give a brief overview of its main composition elements to facilitate future interpretations. The first and fourth movements of this Sonata are based on the interplay between the twelve-tone principle and the G-major tonal center, natural for the guitar. Namely, the first movement is based on the interaction of the G-major triad Gâ??Bâ??D of the open guitar strings 2â??3â??4, ascending motif 1 involving the notes Eâ??F#â??Aâ??C# (originally on the first string), and descending motif 2 using the notes E-â??Câ??Bbâ??A- (originally, on the bass string 6). These elements supplement each other to almost make up twelve tones (apart from the missing F), and the motifs alternate with ostinato fragments where each note in the G major triad is step-by-step moved by a semitone up or down. The second movement is a Scherzo involving numerous semitones in accented chords and fast passages, as well as chromatic melodic motion in the bass voice. It is almost atonal in some fragments, but has an overall tonal center of A-minor.The third movement is a meditative Adagio based on a theme composed within hexatonic scale Dâ??Eâ??Fâ??G#â??Aâ??B and ostinato chords involving open bass strings Eâ??Aâ??D and semitone Bâ??C.Finally, the fourth movement is based on the complete twelve-tone theme consisting of two phrases including motifs 1 and 2 from the first movement: Gâ??Fâ??Bbâ??Abâ??Câ??Ebâ??D and Eâ??Bâ??C#â??Aâ??F#. This theme is presented in its prime and retrograde forms. There are dialogues between the first string, basses and open middle strings, similar to the first movement. In the culmination, the twelve-tone theme is performed using the parallel motion of the standard guitar G-major chord with open middle strings across twelve positions. The Sonata was premiered and recorded (CD Naxos No. 8.574630) by the prominent Ukrainian guitarist Marko Topchii who has also lived and studied in Kharkiv. I am extremely grateful to him for the brilliant performance of this piece.I am greatly indebted to Productions dâ??Oz for keeping my original notations in places where these do not conform to the publisherâ??s style.

The Mountain That Is Mine If you ever climb the mountain where the sun glints off the rocks, If you ever climb the mountain which is circled by the hawks, If you ever climb the mountain where it's warm all day, Then you have climbed the mountain on top of which I lay. If you ever see the place where the cactus always grows, If you ever see the place of which nobody knows, If you ever see the place where the giant rivers run, Then you have seen the place where I am basking in the sun. The upcoming season is exclusively dedicated to a global tour spanning six continents, with the eagerly anticipated album set for release in October 2023 on Deutsche Grammophon. Ólafsson expresses, I've nurtured the dream of recording this piece for 25 years.Following the triumphant 2018 DG recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's works, which earned him BBC Music magazine’s Album of the Year, Opus Klassik’s Solo Recital award, and numerous other recording of the year honors, Ólafsson solidified his status as Gramophone magazine’s Artist of the Year. Now, Ólafsson channels his unique musical insight and meticulous recording expertise into Bach’s masterpiece, marking his initial foray into recording a complete work, starting with one of the most demanding pieces in the piano repertoire. In the 2023-24 season, Ólafsson embarks on a Goldberg Variations world tour, gracing prestigious concert halls worldwide, including London’s Southbank Centre, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Philharmonie de Paris, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Harpa Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House, LA’s Walt Disney Hall, Sala São Paulo, Shanghai Symphony Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, KKL Luzern, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Mupa Budapest, and Teatro Colón, among others.Reflecting on the profound impact of the Goldberg Variations, Ólafsson remarks, “The Goldberg Variations encompass some of the most virtuosic keyboard music ever penned, employing brilliant counterpoint and evoking exalted poetry, abstract contemplation, and deep pathos – all within impeccably crafted structures of formal perfection. In 30 variations, based on the humble harmonic framework of a simple, graceful aria, Bach transforms limited material into boundless variety like no one before or since. Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bassoon - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1026218 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Gillian Horn. Classical,World. 9 pages. G. Horn #5997803. Published by G. Horn (A0.1026218). W. A. Mozart, Menuetto from Symphony no. 40 (K. 550)arranged for Bassoon Quartet by G. HornMozart is considered one of the greatest melody-writers in musical history, and this Menuetto from his 40th Symphony is a great example of this. The movement explores an angry and robust G minor theme. Although it is titled as a Minuet, the use of hemiola and three bar phrases would have made the movement quite difficult to dance to, something which certainly would have amused playful Mozart! We then have the contrast in the trio section with a softer, sweeter G major theme before returning to our Minuet once more.Mozart has always been a favourite composer of mine and the rambunctious nature of the piece works fantastically well for bassoon quartet! I hope you will enjoy playing it as much as I have.Duration: 4 mins approx. Original key. Score and parts included. Can also be performed by trombone quartet. This arrangement was originally written for Genovia Quartet in 2020 by bassoonist Gillian Horn.www.genoviaquartet.com

Guitar - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4272 Composed by Mark Anthony Cruz. Score. 16 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4272. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4272). In September of 2018, guitarist, Toby McWilliams commissioned Cruz to write a three-movement guitar solo after hearing his Five Pieces in C on the internationally syndicated radio show, Classical Guitar Alive. McWilliams requested the first movement to be in sonata-allegro form followed by two other pieces that reflect the tempo choices of a typical three-movement sonatina. As is the case with most of Cruz’s music, this Sonatina was completed as music written for music’s sake. However, in his quest to find titles other than tempo markings, Cruz plucked three words from the correspondence between himself and McWilliams that together, add a personal touch to the collection while suggesting a progression of an imaginary day’s events.A point of interest in the first movement, A theme: Cruz begins on the IV chord and intentionally avoids using a proper I chord throughout. While the B section does begin in the dominant key, it moves quickly towards a D major tonal center.Festival (3rd movement) uses a bitonal opening theme: E major in the top voice while the bass line uses E minor.

My JuneIV. Hello, I’m Johnny CashPiano Trio No. 1 (Poets and Prophets) was composed by Mark O’Connor during the Fall of 2003. The piece was commissioned for the Eroica Trio by a noted patron for music, Kathryn Gould of Palo Alto, California. The world premiere took place at the Montalvo Chamber Music Series in California, March 5th, 2004. In a letter to the members of the trio dated 9/20/03, Mr. O’Connor lays out his plan for the new music. My initial ideas have sort of exploded in to the entire concept of the music with a real impact actually. Now I am piecing together the parts of it and then will eventually work on detail as I get the overall form under wrap. Here is what my inspiration for the music is; Johnny Cash.Johnny was a boyhood hero of mine, I used to sing his songs when I was 8, 9 and 10 years old, and played the guitar like him (sometimes up the fretboard strumming away). My mom used to help me transcribe all the lyrics off the albums, she also thought he hung the moon. As you can imagine, the passing of Cash for me this last week has been emotional. I am at my very best when I compose with my emotions at my sleeve, and guess what, it is time to do the Eroica piece. And I believe I will be able to craft a very unique tribute in to the form of a Piano Trio. There is something that is very fitting in all of this though. Cash was one of the few country music and rockabilly musicians to appeal to all ages, all types of people all the way into the MTV generation which is something that is hard to fathom. That one person can move musical mountains with his charisma and his voice. He sung about the prisons, riding the trains, about killing, and living, about lost love, about the gospel, about the downtrodden and the Native American, and about being stoned. His musical sound was the thing that got everybody though. He developed along with his guitar player Luther Perkins, a new and vibrant way to bring the music out.I also knew Johnny and worked with him, visited him privately at his home. Johnny also appeared on my album called Heroes, where he brought back the great story of the Devil coming down to Georgia to challenge young Johnny for the golden fiddle. My job now is to bridge what I am feeling about my inspiration for Cash, and bring it in to the instruments that I love writing for.I might not have imagined that this Johnny Cash concept would have worked out of hand, if it hadn’t been for your musicianship, insight fullness and graceful approaches in to the details of musical concepts and style. If the piece is good, then I will have no doubt that you will bring it to the forefront so others can grasp the intentions of the work, and in addition for others to enjoy playing it after you have brought it all out in to the open, and gave it a life. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1354186). The significance of Stamitz Duets Op. 27 lies in their contribution to the duet repertoire for two violins (or two flutes). Composed by Carl Stamitz, a prominent figure of this era, the duets were published in 1780. These duets are well-regarded for their musicality and are popular choices for duet performances and educational purposes. They are available in sheet music and have been performed in concerts and recordings, reflecting their enduring appeal and importance in the classical music domain. The duets are known for their melodic and expressive qualities, making them valuable for developing ensemble playing and musical interpretation skills. They are also appreciated for their historical significance in the context of classical music composition and the repertoire for violin or flute duets. Carl Stamitz, born in 1745 and passing away in 1801, was a significant figure in music history, particularly in the classical period. He was one of the most prolific Mannheim orchestral composers, known for writing numerous symphonies, concertos for various instruments, and other instrumental works. Stamitz's influence on the evolution of the Classical sonata form by introducing contrasting themes within a single movement is also noteworthy. He was a prominent representative of the second generation of the Mannheim School, and his contributions to the duet repertoire for two violins or two flutes are highly regarded for their musicality and historical significance. Despite not being as widely recognized as some of his contemporaries, his work has left a lasting impact on the classical music domain.Carl Stamitz significantly contributed to the Mannheim School of Music as the most prominent representative of its second generation. He was the eldest son of Johann Stamitz, a violinist and composer considered the Mannheim School's founder. Carl Stamitz's contribution to the school included his role as a prolific orchestral composer, writing numerous symphonies, concertos for various instruments, and other instrumental works. His work, along with that of other members of the Mannheim School, helped solidify the Classical symphony and its dynamic contrasts, impacting the evolution of the classical music period. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1496482 Composed by Tiffany Prochera. Arranged by Tiffany Prochera. Children,Christmas,Holiday. Score. 79 pages. Swimming Tigress Music #1073003. Published by Swimming Tigress Music (A0.1496482). I Don't Like Winter and Other Songs to Celebrate the Winter Season is a collection of 11 songs for young singers filled with tunes about all aspects of the winter season - from skating alone on the pond in the backyard, picking out presents for siblings, spending time with the family, embracing the cold, wanting to escape the cold, going to visit Santa for the first time, and being so enthusiastic to celebrate all of the special days that happen at this time of year! This collection was inspired by a voice teacher friend of mine - serendipitously also named Tiffany :-) - who was looking for songs about the season that were non-traditional and relatable to a wider range of singers. It's my pleasure to offer up some options!I had so much fun writing these songs and I hope students, teachers, and audiences alike enjoy them just as much! May you laugh as you state your case to go on a winter vacation. May you cry at the idea of wearing a special hat made with a grandmother's love. May you be left breathless with joy as you glide on a frozen pond with no one else around. In addition to all of these brand-spankin' new tunes, I also included the previously-released Everyone's a Kid at Christmas because, well, it's a hoot! These are crowd pleasers perfect for holiday recitals, and some can be performed in a group as well as solos.A note for teachers: These songs do have varying ranges. I, for the most part, notated them as I conceived of them. But I did my best to provide alternate pitches in case the melody goes a little high or a little low. So, I invite to you peruse a song in it's entirety and see where there may be options even if the designated range may seem a little wide. It is my intention to make these songs as accessible to as many singers as possible.
