For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry Eternal Bridge was made to be performed by a group of six soloists playing the following instruments: Oboe, Harp, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass. It is not a difficult piece once learned. It is really a great fun for the players and very easy listening too, It covers a very wide range of audience demands. There is a groove feeling on it that makes it very pleasant to most all people. Because of its plasticity the piece allows many interpretations, therefore I did not made much use of interpretation symbols in order to leave to the performers the freedom of doing their own. Bowing and fingering are left totally virgin at the hands of the schools or the creativity of the performing Artists. P.S. - The score was written on Finale. The sound file For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry, was performed with samplers from Garritan and conceived as an audio support for the presentation of the score. This is the first time that this version is published in Sheet Music Plus. Thank you very much for taking your time to read this text and to listen to the file. Imagine a little railway station, a train that comes and stops, and your friends go inside. As you step on the little stairs to go inside, the doors close letting you out, and the train starts rolling. It speeds up very fast and enough so you can`t jump out of the little stairs back to the ground, you are holding now to the iron bars around the doors of the train, you see your friends and the people inside but they can`t see you, they can`t hear you, and you notice that the train is now on a bridge so high, that you can`t see the earth any more. Wind is blowing around me and I feel this cosmic cold and everything starts to twist around in a gigantic spiral. I still feel the Gravity but it goes in all directions at the same time pushing me violently and I feared to fail the grip on the iron bars and fall down, in an imaginary endless abyss. Little by little the speed of the events slows down progressively until everything freezes. Now, The other side of the bridge does not exist at all, neither the beginning or up or down. The train disappeared in a glimpse and I noticed that I was not falling down, just hanging there out in hyperspace, Free from Gravity. I lost the fear of falling in the abyss, it felt kind a good, because the only thing that I could see was light, pure beautiful bright white light, I was floating in light, I realised I could stay there forever, but then I felt lonely and wanted to come back home. When I finally woke up, I wrote this words in Portuguese and made a song out of it. the words go like:Ponte eterna abismo sem fundo - Vento ciclónico medo profundo - Comboio gelado lentidão d`aço - Espiral eterna suspensa no espaço - Maos agarram a vida duas barras d` aço - Corpo sacudido em espasmos de medo - Alucinação divina acordar de um sonho Eternal Bridge endless Abyss - Cyclonic wind deep Fear - Frozen Train slowness of steel - Eternal spiral suspended in space - Hands cling to life on two bars of steel - Body shaken into spasms of fear - Divine hallucination waking up from a dream

ATON is a stage play written by Manfred Strolz and Otmar Rützler which represents Egypt in the time of the Pharoahs but seen through the eyes of modern theatre directors and actors. The modern scenes are spoken but the Egyptian scenes require music, so Manfred and Otmar asked me to write the music for these. The music is composed for various forces as the play progresses, from the full orchestra (woodwind, strings, harp, piano, timpani) and choir down to more intimate moments with single voice or duets, flute and classical guitar or with single voice and bassoon. For each section the pdf file contains score and parts and the sound sample is an electronic preview. As I write 16 sections have been composed, but more are to come - please just search for Aton in due course for the full picture. The first performance is planned to take place in the Landestheater in Innsbruck during 2015 ================= ATON ist ein Bühnenstück von Manfred Strolz and Otmar Rützler geschrieben, das Ägypten von der Pharaonenzeit vorstellt aber auch duch die Augen moderner Direktoren und Schauspieler sieht. Die modernen Szenen sind gesprochen aber die ägyptischen Szenen brauchen Musik, deshalb haben mich Manfred und Otmar gebeten die Musik dafür zu schreiben. Die Musik ist für verschiedene Kräfte während des Stückes komponiert: vom vollen Orchester (Holzbläser, Streicher, Harfe, Klavier, Timpani) und Chor bis zu intimeren Augenblicken mit Solostimme (oder Duetten) mit Flöte und klassicher Gitarre oder Solostimme mit Fagott. Im Augenblick gibt es 16 Kompositionen, aber es wird noch mehr geben - bitte suche später nach Aton für das vollständige Bild. Für jede Komposition enhält die pdf-Datei Partitur und Stimmen und die mp3-Datei ist eine elektronische Vorschau. Each song in this collection is notated for handbells on one part and Boomwhackers® on a second part (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. For each song, there is a combined score with both parts on a grand staff plus a separate 1-staff score for each individual part.Though this sheet music is notated for handbells and Boomwhackers®, these arrangements are playable by any 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel (though the color coding may not match).This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. We’re really excited to present our collection of sixty of the best-loved hymns ever composed, presented in three books. Arranged for violin, cello and piano they are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. To make the music accessible to less experienced string players, the range of the notes has been kept fairly low so that many of the arrangements can be played in first position, though more experienced players would probably want to avoid open strings. The cello part does not follow the bass but instead plays an independent tenor line using to the mid to upper range of the instrument. The top note in the cello part is the F sharp above the bass clef. The piano part has been kept as straightforward as possible with the left hand playing the bass part. To extend the possible uses of this collection, there’s also a melody part printed in the bass clef, an octave lower than the violin part. This could of course be used for cello solo or indeed for any other bass clef instrument. Included in the 50-page PDF file is an optional bass part which follows the piano left hand and could be used for string bass or bass guitar. With such a small ensemble, a conductor is hardly necessary and to save on costs the pianist reads from the score. For this reason, the piano part in the score has been slightly enlarged. It came a year after Fauré's Nocturne in D flat major No. 6, which ended a six-year hiatus from writing piano music for the composer. Fauré was also in the process of evolving his keyboard style toward bolder harmonic and thematic means of expression, but this work is largely conservative, even exhibiting hints of Schumann, especially in the main theme. That theme, marked Quasi adagio, is stately and presented in short, somewhat repetitive-sounding phrases. It has an expressive depth in its mixture of the noble and gloomy, of elegance and splendor. The first variation does not stray far in mood or in thematic change, but the second is lively and playful, exuding brilliant, almost Rachmaninovian colors. The ensuing variant is moderately paced, but still quite playful in its greater muscle. The music in the Molto Adagio sixth variation may offer the greatest depth here, and that in the Andante molto moderato eighth variation, the dreamiest and most serene. With the tenth variation, the music turns quite lively and colorful, and in the concluding 11th, the mood shifts to a quiet, reserved manner at the outset to a serenely triumphant one at the end.

The music is composed for various forces as the play progresses, from the full orchestra (woodwind, strings, harp, piano, timpani) and choir down to more intimate moments with single voice or duets, flute and classical guitar or with single voice and bassoon. For each section the pdf file contains score and parts and the sound sample is an electronic preview. As I write 16 sections have been composed, but more are to come - please just search for Aton in due course for the full picture. The first performance is planned to take place in the Landestheater in Innsbruck during 2015 ================= ATON ist ein Bühnenstück von Manfred Strolz and Otmar Rützler geschrieben, das Ägypten von der Pharaonenzeit vorstellt aber auch duch die Augen moderner Direktoren und Schauspieler sieht. Die modernen Szenen sind gesprochen aber die ägyptischen Szenen brauchen Musik, deshalb haben mich Manfred und Otmar gebeten die Musik dafür zu schreiben. Die Musik ist für verschiedene Kräfte während des Stückes komponiert: vom vollen Orchester (Holzbläser, Streicher, Harfe, Klavier, Timpani) und Chor bis zu intimeren Augenblicken mit Solostimme (oder Duetten) mit Flöte und klassicher Gitarre oder Solostimme mit Fagott. Im Augenblick gibt es 16 Kompositionen, aber es wird noch mehr geben - bitte suche später nach Aton für das vollständige Bild. Für jede Komposition enhält die pdf-Datei Partitur und Stimmen und die mp3-Datei ist eine elektronische Vorschau. Es wird geplant, die erste Aufführung im Landestheater Innsbruck im Jahre 2015 stattzuhalten.

The song is also known as O Waly, Waly which means something like “woe is meâ€. For such an old song, it is not surprising that there are many variations of the lyrics. An early version of the modern lyrics was consolidated by the British folksong collector Cecil Sharp in 1906, using multiple older sources in southern England. There are many sets of lyrics with different story-lines. This was because in the past, performers would often create new lyrics for the song. This melody has attracted an entire family of lyrics many of which bear little relationship to each other. The words used in this choral arrangement reflect the popular lyrics used during the twentieth century. The song was arranged for voice and piano in 1948 by British composer Benjamin Britten but in more recent times, was made popular by many folk singers notably Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. It has become one of the most popular folk songs today, largely because of its beautiful tune. But as with the lyrics, there are many variations on the melody with the result that no single variation can be considered the “correct†one.This SAB arrangement by Colin Kirkpatrick is ideal for high school or college choir, especially if the tenor/bass section is a bit low on numbers. Each section of the choir has the melody line at some point and there are attractive and evocative counter-melodies. In the soprano part (which has one brief divisi section), the highest note is G5 (which occurs only once and safely approached) and the highest note in the alto part is C5 (in the middle of the treble staff). The bartione part lies between A flat 2 (bottom space in bass clef) and D3 (just above the staff). The piano part is an integral part of the arrangement and therefore essential. The music begins in E flat and modulates to C major. Running at just over three minutes, the work is sure to be popular with choir and audiences alike.

As is my usual style, I tend to allow the second players and less-prominent instruments a chance to shine, and in general shake up the usual orchestral hierarchy. (The second violins, for example, even get their own solo passage!)The wind parts are much more individualized, where the first part may have a completely different line than the second.A colleague who is a trombone player challenged me to write parts that sing for his instrument; hence the word dolce occurs in the low brass parts.
