Gabrieli: Sonata Pian e Forte, Ch. 175 for Trumpet & Trombone Choir

Brass Band Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1220622 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Renaissance. Score and Parts. 45 pages. Jmsgu3 #816951. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1220622). A musical monument: the first composition to employ dynamics Minimum Instrumentation: 4 Trumpets, 2 Alto Trombones, 3 Tenor Trombones, 1 Bass Trombone, and 1 Tuba. Suggested instrumentation: 8 trumpets, 4 Alto Trombones, 6 Tenor Trombones, 2 Bass Trombones, 4 Tubas.InnovationsFirst of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style.Polychoral WorksGabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well.Spatial MusicAbove all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance.First WorksFinally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung.HomophonyHence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which he calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587673 Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by David McKeown. Baroque,Concert,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Score. 3 pages. David McKeown #4729545. Published by David McKeown (A0.587673). The Trumpet Tune and Air was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop. Written around 1700, for many years this piece was attributed to Henry Purcell. But more recently many have questioned whether the composer was in fact Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. What is known is that the piece was written for a semi-opera called The Island Princess, and that both men contributed music to the production. In recent years this piece has become a popular wedding favourite. This full version is arranged as a duet for two Trombones and the performance time is around two and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and the repeat may be ignored. The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet and Alto Saxophone version of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. There are of course separate piano and instrumental parts included in downloaded the file.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with strict time, full tone and dynamic contrast. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Trombone, Brass Choir or Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble - Advanced - Digital Download By Jacob Collier. Arranged by Michael Pilley. Score, Set of Parts. 55 pages. Published by Michael Pilley Musi
From his acclaimed album Djesse Vol. 3, this is Jacob's favourite track and lends itself beautifully to a trombone ensemble. With a hymn-like chorale and a bluesy solo, along with half the ensemble being bass trombones, this is a great showcase of your ensembles warmth and sensitive playing.<br> <br> This is an advanced work scored for soloist, six tenor trombones, four bass trombones and a contrabass trombone (playable by a bass trombonist with extreme range). If you are lacking extra bass trombonists, you can substitute tenor trombonists for the top three bass trombone parts.<br> The soloist part is mostly improvisational and would suit a jazz player. Top two tenor trombones carry more of the melody, with the 2nd playing a higher range. The next four tenor trombones add a lot of colour to the mix with different mutes, and the background effects you can hear on the track, and require agile trombonists.<br> <br> As played by Super Bone on YouTube.<br> <br> Beautifully laid out in A4 size, the score and parts are easy to read and available NOW for digital download. We suggest you print on 80gsm paper, to ensure that the copies last longer in your bands library. If you're printing on letter size paper, please fit to page when sending to the printer.

Trombone Choir Ensemble - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by Charles Ives (1874-1954). Arranged by Ross Holcombe. 20th Century, Americana. Score, Set of Parts. 44 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Here is what the arranger, Ross Holcombe says about his great scoring of this wonderful and unique work by Ives.<br> <br> Ives finished the majority of his Concord Sonata, from which this movement is excerpted, in 1915. According to Ives, the piece reflects on the old Alcott house in Concord, MA, but I feel a greater struggle in this work than a mere journal about a piece of architecture. The fact that Ives quotes Beethoven’s 5th Symphony so extensively makes me wonder about his views on destiny, fate, the future, and the creative process. <br> <br> The piece starts serenely but quickly devolves into uncertainty, doubt, and anger. A floating interlude brings us back to distant memories where we remember that we are shaped by our past, but have control of the direction of our future. Building on that realization and quickly gaining steam, the piece ends with a powerful and joyful climax. The angry Beethoven theme is transformed into one of power, hope, and light. A feeling of calm and contentment ends the piece, finally coming to rest on one simple C major chord.<br> <br> This work is scored for 10 trombones: 1 alto, 7 tenor, and 2 bass trombones and is appropriate for advanced performers.

Gabrieli: Canzon Septimi Toni Ch. 172 for Trumpet & Trombone Double Choir

Brass Ensemble Trombone,Trumpet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1224064 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. Score and Parts. 51 pages. Jmsgu3 #820156. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1224064). From Sacrae Symphoniae, Venice, 1597Minimum instrumentation: Two choirs of 2 Trumpets, 1 Tenor Trombone & 1 Bass Trombone.InnovationsFirst of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather than two groups. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

A greasy salsa with a hint of Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Alan's arrangement provides solo space for alto 1, trumpet 2, and bone 1. The rhythm section will have fun with the salsa groove and few meter changes. This is a must-have chart! Saxophone Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108365 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 25 pages. Regis Bookshar #711007. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108365). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Saxophone Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Saxophone Quintet, consisting of 1 Soprano Saxophone, 1 Alto Saxophone, 2 Tenor Saxophones and 1 Baritone Saxophone, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Saxophone Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

So, in addition to this arrangement for a Trombone Septet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition.

Trombone Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1112903 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 44 pages. Regis Bookshar #714858. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1112903). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Trombone Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Trombone Octet and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (44 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.591277 Composed by David McKeown. Easter,Latin,Pop,R & B,Rock. Score. 3 pages. David McKeown #6290881. Published by David McKeown (A0.591277). The Chocolate Chalypso is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for two Trombones. Chocolate Chalypso is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. In the late ‘50s just a handful of national TV shows in the US had a huge influence on the music and dance crazes of the time. Artists and dances came and went with dizzying speed. Chalypso was a short-lived craze in 1958 that combined the music of the new Rock’n’Roll with much-simplified steps borrowed from Cha Cha and Calypso; and no sooner had it caught on than it was itself supplanted by The Twist. Chocolate Chalypso is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by some syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, Chocolate Chalypso is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. Click the link above to listen to a full performance of the clarinet version of this duet on YouTube. Trombone - Intermediate - Digital Download By Michael Giacchino, Alexander Courage, Gene Roddenberry. Arranged by Sophia Johanna Transistor. Score, Solo Part. 5 pages. Published by Sophia Transistor
Epic famous film music STAR TREK theme "To Boldly Go and End Credits" arranged for single trombone solo performance (or any instrument notated in bass clef in C).<br> A symphonic suite arranged for slide-trombone instrumentation. Originally I started to play the trombone because of Commander William T. Riker.<br> <br> This piece by Michael Giacchino contains portions of the TV Theme by Alexander Courage and Gene Roddenberry. Therefore it is like an epic medley of many familiar symphonic Star Trek tunes as we all love them.<br> It has been adapted specifically for trombone / t-bone brass players. Breething signs and spaces are included. Special slide positions and slide effects are notated as well.<br> <br> Total play time is approximately 7 minutes and 43 seconds<br> but there is an option to end the piece in front of the interlude at time 2 min 42 sec at the same bar where the official HalLeonard piano arrangement of "to boldly go" ends:<br> https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/to-boldly-go-digital-sheet-music/19455787<br> After that, the music gets a little bit darker and string-dominated. These parts have been changed or excluded to make it a solid brasswind only Star Trek performance.<br> <br> Score is available in C in bass clef with 5 pages in DIN-A4 format.<br> <br> Major high notes that are the climax of a tension bow sometimes end on a high: ringing Ab''<br> There is even a High Db''' for the very ambitious trombone player (but the higher notes are also notated one octave lower).<br> <br> Thanks!
