Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1309638 Composed by Thomas Shacklady. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Multicultural,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional,World. 42 pages. Keith Terrett #898806. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1309638). An arrangement made especially for the Band of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary of ''O Arise, All You Sons''., one og PNG's two professional military bands, the other belongs to the PNG Defence Force both based in Port Morsebly the nations captital.O Arise, All You Sons is the national anthem of Papua New Guinea. Adopted in 1975, it was written and composed by Thomas Shacklady, a former Royal Marine who took over the band from Inspector David Crawley. I took over the band from 1994-99, after taking the band on two overseas tours to Adelaide in 1996 & Kobe in 1999.The National Identity Act of Papua New Guinea was formulated in 1971, motivating the country to create a national flag, a national emblem, a national pledge and a national anthem. A national flag and emblem were adopted in 1971. However, the national anthem remained undecided until independence from Australia in 1975, four years later. Although many songs were submitted to be the anthem, the National Executive Council decided a week before the country's Independence Day (10 September 1975), to adopt as the national anthem a composition that was composed by Chief Inspector Thomas Shacklady (1917–2006), a bandmaster of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary Band.During the 2015 Pacific Games opening ceremony, the anthem was sung with the first line altered from O arise all you sons of this land to O arise sons and daughters of this land. An official later stated that this was illegal and a violation of the National Identity Act.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522448 Composed by Columbia - Thomas A. Becket, Sr. (1843) and Grand Old Flag - George M. Cohan (19. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. Classical,Folk,Holiday,Instructional,Patriotic. Octavo. 5 pages. Paul A. Jorg #6139811. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522448). This a medley of two older, patriotic songs; both are public domain songs. A little bit of Columbia's history: In the early years of our country's founding, the name was synominous with the United States of America; hense, our nation's capital - The District of Columbia. Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean' is a United States patriotic song which was popular during the mid-19th and early 20th centuries, especially during the Civil War era. It functioned as an unofficial national anthem in competition with Hail, Columbia and The Star-Spangled Banner until the latter's formal adoption as the national anthem of the United States in 1931. IT'S A GRAND OLD FLAG is more widely known; most folks sang it in elementary school.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746742 Composed by Charles W.A Ellerbrook, Daniel Adams Butterfield, Daniel Decatur Dan Emmett ( 1815 – 1904), and Valentine Vousden. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Contemporary,Multicultural,Patriotic,Traditional,World. 39 pages. Keith Terrett #2941995. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746742). De facto Anthems of the Confederate States of America ''I Wish I Was in Dixie & Taps''- ''God Save the South No. 1'' - The Bonnie Blue Flag, ''God Save the South No. 2'', arranged for Brass Quintet & Percussion. The Confederate States of America (also referred to as The Confederacy or simply The South) had, like the United States at the time, several patriotic songs in use which could have been considered anthems, like Dixie, The Bonnie Blue Flag, and God Save the South, none of which were officially declared (possibly because declaring an official anthem wasn’t as important to a new nation then as it is now). God Save the South does have more of an anthemaic quality in the music and lyrics, and several publications of the song refer to it as a (or the) anthem, and was also the first song to be published in the Confederacy (which was subsequently published in at least nine editions).God Save the South was written by George H. Miles under the pseudonym Earnest Halphin, soon after the war started. Miles was a Marylander, a state that did not officially secede and join the confederacy, but, being a border state, had several citizens with sympathies for the south. An interesting thing to note about the song is the reference to George Washington (the first president of the United States) in the song’s fifth verse. Apparently, the author of the song meant to tie in Washington’s stance as a rebel against the British in the American revolution with the South’s rebellion against the northern United States in the civil war.The music was written by C. W. A. Ellerbock, but another tune by C. T. De Cœniél was also popular at the time as well. (Ellerbock’s version, however, seems to be the original.)For more of my original music, great arrangements and all the national anthems of the world, check out my on-line stores:http://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/keith_terrethttp://musicforalloccasions.org.ukhttp://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=keith+terrettNeed an anthem fast? Full Orchestra - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by John Stafford Smith (30 March 1750 – 21 September 1836). Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century, European, Patriotic. Score, Set of Parts. 28 pages. Published by Music for all Occasions
The national anthem of the USA arranged for full orchestra. There are also versions for Brass Quintet & String Orchestra in my stores.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from the Defence of Fort M'Henry, a poem written on September 14, 1814, by the then 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory.

The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. "To Anacreon in Heaven" (or "The Anacreontic Song"), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key's poem and renamed "The Star-Spangled Banner", it soon became a well-known U.S. patriotic song. With a range of 19 semitones, it is known for being very difficult to sing. Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" was recognized for official use by the United States Navy in 1889, and by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson in 1916, and was made the national anthem by a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931 (46 Stat. 1508, codified at 36 U.S.C. § 301), which was signed by President Herbert Hoover.

Before 1931, other songs served as the hymns of U.S. officialdom. "Hail, Columbia" served this purpose at official functions for most of the 19th century. "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", whose melody is identical to "God Save the Queen", the United Kingdom's national anthem, also served as a de facto national anthem. Following the War of 1812 and subsequent U.S. wars, other songs emerged to compete for popularity at public events, among them "America the Beautiful", which itself was being considered before 1931, as a candidate to become the national anthem of the United States.

John Stafford Smith (30 March 1750 – 21 September 1836) was a British composer, church organist, and early musicologist. He was one of the first serious collectors of manuscripts of works by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Stafford Smith is best known for writing the music for "The Anacreontic Song", which became the tune for the US patriotic song "The Star-Spangled Banner" following the War of 1812, and in 1931 was adopted as the national anthem of the United States.

Love anthems, then join me on twitter, instagram, facebook & soundcloud for updates.
