All music arranged, produced, recorded and performed by Louis Landon Louis Landon is a Steinway Artist, formerly of New York and currently of Sedona, who has dedicated his life to music. His passion is for peace. His career has taken him around the world playing a variety of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry: classical music for Mikhail Baryshnikov on national and international tours, Latin music with Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers on national and international tours, pop music with Rupert Pina Colada Song Holmes on television and national tours, rock & roll with John Hall, opening for Little Feat on national tours. For the past 24 years, through his production company, Landon Music, he has written and produced music for film, video, and commercials, including three years of best plays and bloopers commercials for the National Basketball Association. Each additional lyric ties into the verses of the song and adds an extension to the verse. This version has the verses broken up between the voices until the last verse. There are no repeat endings - it plays all the way through. This is for SATB quartet or choir and piano. Floating, Falling, Flying depicts the odyssey of two balloons who find themselves suddenly and blissfully untethered.  It presents a musical narrative of their unpredictable journey through the skies, back to earth, and, eventually, into the stratosphere. The piece was commissioned by Music Teachers National Association for the 2022 National Conference.  It is a trio for oboe, violin and piano written for students at the intermediate to advanced-intermediate level.  Composed in three contiguous movements, it involves three characters – the balloons (portrayed by the oboe and violin) and the wind (represented by the piano).  In the opening movement (Floating), the balloons escape their moorings and ascend into free space, floating playfully among the clouds with the help of a gentle wind. But, as in life, journeys are not always peaceful.  The second movement (Falling) opens with a hint that something is not quite right.  Undaunted, the balloons continue their carefree ascent amid the ominous signs of an approaching storm.  The wind ultimately asserts its authority, pummeling the balloons back to earth.  As they lie helplessly on the ground, they assess each other’s condition and make feeble attempts to relaunch.  But, without wind, their situation seems hopeless.  In the final movement (Flying), hope is restored as a quiet breeze lifts the intrepid pair back into the air.  They resume their skyward adventure with renewed vigor and joy – dancing through the clouds and, ultimately, out of sight.Floating, Falling, Flying is an exciting and challenging piece for student concerts, recitals and Solo and Ensemble festivals.Brian Chung is a pianist, arranger, composer, conference speaker, former Senior Vice Present of Kawai America Corporation, and author or co-author of four books published by Alfred Music.  He was honored to participate in MTNA’s Collaborative Music Commissioning Project with this composition.

The 40-page score is a choral symphony with a powerful lesson to modern people, based on an old Danish folk song about the young super-hero Ramund. The score is dense with contents, both musically and lyrically, and alone for that reason, the 8-minute performance takes an advanced choir.The original folk song dates back to the Viking age and consist of many episodes ofRamund's life, almost like a personal saga. Some have undoubtedly been added later,making the total number of stanzas go up around 50, but the main idea of the song isto report about a young lad, whose ideas of what is right for him to do or not doare completely unaffected by other people's opinions, including those of royalties andcelebrities. The stories are in many regards comparable to those of Beowolf.Although the stories generally are dramatic and bloody, Ramund always retains hiscool attitude and shows how unimpressed he is with power demonstrations, even hisown when he is provoked to use his strength. It is a common element throughout thestories that Ramund detests evil and aggression, and he goes to great lengths to fightpower abusers and aggressive elements. He just wants to live in peace and not haveto be bothered by all those who like to abuse power!Included in this presentation for piano and 8 voices are 11 stanzas from what is believedto be original, in English translation, with focus on clarity of meaning, more so thanpoetical rules and rhymes. The first ruling concept has been to obtain clarity and agreat fit to the music. The second concept has been to add the inspiration this old folksong has created in the mind of a modern rebel who would like to see some ofRamund's attitude to power and power abusers put into action in our modern corruptsociety. Maybe in a less bloody version, but definitely with a similar effect! The added2 stanzas and the attached coda, as well as the added lyrics to the intermezzos and theincorporated commentaries to the action should serve that purpose.In addition, the original tune itself, as well as the lyrics and the intermezzo, haveinspired some musical development throughout the piece, to further accentuate themeaning and the messages about respecting each other, standing together againstabuse, and not letting power abusers get away with their crimes.The 8 voices cover ranges as follows: First sopranos: C4 through Bb5 (possibly G5); Second sopranos: C4 through E5; All altos: G3 through D5; All tenors: C3 through G#4(possibly F#4); First basses: F2 through D4; Second basses: D2 through B3

Jane Goodall is a world-famous primatologist and anthropologist, considered the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees. She has changed the world with her studies, and continues to do so with environmental and educational activism. Brad Powell met Ms. Goodall in the early 1990s, and has composed this piece in her honor. It is a relaxing waltz style, using intermediate-level classical guitar technique, with both folk and modern jazz guitar chord voicings. This is in STANDARD NOTATION (without TAB). (A version that includes TAB will be available separately, very soon.)ABOUT the composer: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Classically-trained pianists are often asked to “play some quiet background music†which is non-invasive, that will support the event without bringing attention to the music itself, and can be brought to a graceful close quickly. “What to play?†is not the only challenge, but also, “What do I do if I run out of music before the event is done?†or, How can I bring a piece to a close if I'm told to stop playing before the piece is over?†“HELP! I can't improvise! I offer you a set of beautiful phrases that are uniquely purposed to fill these needs - and more. Peaceful Measures is a set of twelve four-measure, repeatable, interchangeable phrases with very little melodic distraction. Start with any phrase that suits your need, such as background music for a pastoral prayer. Repeat one phrase indefinitely or flow directly to any other. Skip around. Each phrase leads to all others, and all lead to your choice of two clearly labeled Endings. Because this download includes the seven most commonly used major keys, Peaceful Measures can also be used as vamping material until the song you are accompanying is ready to sing. Or use a phrase to extend a song in order to continue its mood. Print only the pages of the key you need now, or the whole set for quick referrals later. Explore their flexibility for other purposes, such as the passing of Communion for example: find your favorite phrases to repeat, then flow into the Ending that will serve the best timing. Need quiet music filler for an unknown length of time? Choose a phrase and repeat, then go to an Ending of your choice. Everything is written out for easy navigation and on-the-spot reading. The recording I have included is a series of phrases, some repeated, in F Major and uses Ending I. Pianists will discover even more settings for these versatile phrases! Not only are they great for worship services of any faith, they serve as background music for speeches, funeral prelude music, dedications of any kind, wedding filler music, civil ceremonies, personal prayer, and calming meditation music for groups large or small. For some, the most enjoyable thing is to just play them randomly and enjoy the calm they bring for yourself.
